Elara Mooncrest never wanted a mate.

As the daughter of a respected Alpha family, she has everything she could ask for—a loving family, a powerful wolf, and a future she intends to control herself.

Then, on the night of her twenty-second birthday, her wolf finds him.

A powerful black wolf beneath the full moon.

Her mate.

But instead of accepting the bond, he runs.

For the first time in her life, Elara experiences rejection.

And strangely enough, she doesn't care.

What she doesn't know is that the black wolf isn't the only one connected to her.

A cold Enigma Alpha.

A charming royal prince.

A ruthless warrior.

A silent shadow commander.

And a dangerous Rogue King.

Five men from five different worlds.

Five wolves that recognize the same woman.

None of them understands why.

None of them expected to find their mate.

And none of them is prepared for the moment Elara finally realizes that the five men surrounding her are connected to the same mysterious bond.

But Elara refuses to surrender her freedom simply because fate has chosen for her.

If they want her heart, they'll have to earn it.

Because being her mate may be written in their blood.

But becoming her man?

That will be her choice.

Chapter One : The Wolf Who Refused Her
The forest was unusually quiet. Elara Mooncrest noticed it the moment she crossed beneath the silver canopy. Usually, the forest surrounding Mooncrest territory was alive at night. Crickets sang between the trees, leaves rustled in the wind, and distant wolves occasionally called to one another. Tonight, there was nothing. Not even the sound of her own footsteps seemed loud enough. Elara stopped. Her dark hair fell over her shoulders as she slowly looked around. “Lira?” Her wolf stirred inside her. *I know.* Elara frowned. “What?” *Something is here.* Elara's senses sharpened immediately. Her hearing expanded. She could hear the faint movement of branches several meters away. She could smell damp earth, pine, wildflowers— And then she caught it. A scent. Deep. Warm. Wild. Male. Her heart suddenly beat harder. Lira went completely still. *Mate.* Elara's eyes widened. “No.” *Mate.* “I heard you the first time.” The wolf inside her practically purred. *He is close.* Elara took a slow breath. Of all nights. Tonight was supposed to be her birthday celebration. Her twenty-second birthday. Her parents had spent weeks preparing for it. Her pack had gathered at their estate, food covered the long tables, music filled the halls, and several neighboring families had arrived to offer their congratulations. And, naturally, half the unmarried Alphas in the surrounding territories had apparently decided her birthday was the perfect opportunity to introduce themselves. Elara had escaped. She had shifted into Lira and run into the forest simply to get away from the attention. She hadn't expected to find her mate. Lira pushed forward. *Follow.* “I don't think that's a good idea.” *Follow.* “Lira.” *Mate.* Elara sighed. Her wolf had become impossible. She followed the scent deeper into the forest. The farther she went, the stronger it became. Her instincts told her to slow down. Her curiosity told her to keep walking. Eventually, she reached a clearing. Moonlight poured between the trees. And there he was. A massive black wolf stood in the center of the clearing. He was larger than any ordinary wolf Elara had ever seen. His fur was almost completely black, except for a faint silver marking across his chest. His golden eyes locked onto hers. Everything inside Elara went still. Lira practically slammed against the bond between them. *Mate.* Elara's breath caught. The black wolf didn't move. Neither did she. For several seconds, they simply stared at each other. Then the wolf took one step forward. Elara's heart raced. Another step. The bond between them seemed to pull tighter. Warmth spread through her chest. Her wolf whimpered softly. *Our mate.* Elara swallowed. “So you're the one.” The wolf tilted his head. Then something unexpected happened. He growled. Elara froze. It wasn't a playful growl. It wasn't warning her about danger. He was growling at **her**. More specifically— At the invisible bond between them. Elara's eyebrows drew together. “What are you doing?” The wolf's ears flattened. He took another step backward. Lira became furious. *He is rejecting us.* Elara stared at him. “What?” The black wolf looked directly into her eyes. For one brief moment, she saw something in them. Conflict. Fear. Desire. Then he turned. And ran. Elara stood completely motionless. The sound of his paws disappeared between the trees. Lira was silent. For the first time since Elara had awakened her wolf, she had absolutely nothing to say. Elara slowly crossed her arms. “Well.” Nothing. “That's certainly one way to introduce yourself.” Lira finally growled. *I don't like him.* Elara almost laughed. “You were calling him our mate thirty seconds ago.” *I changed my mind.* “You're ridiculous.” *He rejected us.* “I noticed.” *We should chase him.* “No.” *Why?* “Because I'm not chasing a man who just ran away from me.” Lira went quiet. Elara turned toward the path leading back to her territory. Her heart still hurt. She refused to admit how much. She had always known that finding a mate could be complicated. She had seen wolves reject their bonds before. But she'd never imagined it would happen to her. She touched her chest. The bond was still there. Weak. But unmistakable. Whoever that wolf was, he was her mate. And he had rejected her. “Fine,” she whispered. She looked toward the direction he had disappeared. “If he doesn't want me, that's his choice.” Then she smiled faintly. “It's not my problem.” She turned around and began walking home. She didn't notice the pair of golden eyes watching her from the darkness. The black wolf hadn't gone far. He stood hidden between the trees, staring after her. His breathing was heavy. His claws dug into the soil. Inside him, his wolf was furious. *You left her.* “I had to.” *Mate.* “I know.” *Go back.* “No.” His wolf snarled. *She is ours.* The man closed his eyes. For the first time in years, Damon Blackridge felt something dangerously close to fear. He had spent his entire life controlling his instincts. He had never allowed anyone close enough to threaten that control. But the moment he had smelled her— Everything had changed. And that frightened him more than any enemy ever could. Damon opened his eyes again. Moonlight illuminated the silver mark on his chest. A mate bond. One he had never wanted. One he could not break. And somewhere across the forest, Elara Mooncrest was walking home believing she had just lost the only mate she would ever have. Neither of them knew how wrong she was. Because before the night was over— four other wolves would awaken with the same inexplicable feeling. Four different men would suddenly find themselves restless. Four different wolves would begin searching for a scent they had never smelled before. And none of them would understand why. Until the next full moon. Until they met her. Until they realized that the woman Damon had just rejected... was somehow connected to all of them.
