CHAPTER 1: A NEW BEGINNING
Irina's mind wandered off during the drive to the school with her father, Mr Saltzman and things seemed awkward between them. Two months back, she lost her mother. The sadness changed her from being cheerful to depressed.
Arriving at the gates of the school, her father stopped the car, she came down and he drove off without biding her farewell.
Irina let out a sigh as she watched his car slowly get out of sight.
Looking at the school, anxiety took over her. She thought she had prepared herself enough in the last few days but it seemed the fear and uncertainty still threatened to crash her resolve now that the moment had arrived.
Irina was a petite girl, with shoulder-length brown hair and hazel eyes. She had a pale complexion, and a few freckles dotted her cheeks. She was wearing a simple, black dress, and her shoes were scuffed and worn. She carried a duffel bag on her shoulder, and clutched a small, tattered notebook in her hands.
As she walked through the gate of the school, two girls ran up to her. They were both tall and slender, with long, dark hair and piercing.
The girls' eyes glittered as they looked at Irina, and one of them smiled and said, "Hi, I'm Feronia Griffin. And this is my best friend, Eldia Silvester. We're your roommates." Irina felt a flutter of anxiety as she returned their smiles, but she tried to stay calm. She had no idea what to expect from these girls, but she hoped that they would be friendly. "It's nice to meet you both," she said. "I'm Irina Saltzman. I'm really nervous about being here."
Eldia put a comforting hand on Irina's shoulder and said, "There's no need to be nervous. We're all friends here, and we'll take care of you. We know how hard it can be to adjust to a new place." Irina felt a sense of relief at Eldia's words. She couldn't help but smile at the girl's kindness. "Thank you," she said. "That's really reassuring."
As the three girls walked toward the dormitory, they chatted about their interests and hobbies. It turned out that they all had a love of reading, and they bonded over their shared passion for books. As they talked, Irina felt herself relax and start to enjoy their company. Feronia and Eldia seemed like genuinely kind and caring people, and Irina was glad that she would be spending the next few months with them.
The three girls arrived at the dormitory, and Feronia led them to their shared room. It was a small but cozy space, with three beds, a desk, and a window that overlooked the school grounds.
The room was already decorated with each girl's belongings, giving it a homey feel. Feronia had hung up several posters of her favorite authors, while Eldia had placed a small collection of crystals on her desk. It was clear that the girls had already started to make this space their own. Irina felt a sense of comfort as she looked around the room, and she knew that she would be happy here. "This is a great room," she said. "I'm glad to be here."
The girls unpacked their belongings and made themselves at home. They decided to explore the school grounds.
As the girls were exploring the grounds, they noticed a strange and imposing building in the distance. It was tall and imposing, with a dark and foreboding presence. The girls felt a sense of unease as they looked at the building, and they wondered what lay within its walls.
