The last thing I saw was the look of utter alarm on the boy’s face as I passed out. . .
Kai’s POV
I woke up to my sister’s excited squeals carrying through our house. Ugh. Can’t she just be normal?! To be fair to her though, we aren’t normal: we’re hunters. Predators. Werewolves. The stuff of nightmares. Except we’re not. I’m only going to explain this once. Werewolves are wolf shifters that have lost their marbles, or more commonly their fated mates. Rouges are a better and more common name for them, and my family are not Rouges.
I could understand my sister’s sense of excitement, since it was our first official day at a High School that wasn’t run by Shifters. We were being sent into a human school to try and figure out what had all mystical beings in a tizzy as of late. Supernaturals alike we’re being drawn to this town, and no one knows why, so as a strong bloodline in the Shifter community, it’s my family’s job to figure out why. So my sister and I are going to High School. Yay.
As I walked into the kitchen, I could still hear my sister’s excited chatter about how she wanted to use this as an opportunity to better understand humans. Whatever. “Don’t you ever stop talking?” I mean really, does she?
“Really Kai, you’re not excited at all?! You could meet your mate!!” She’s not wrong, but I highly doubt my fated mate would be at a human high school. “Whatever. Just hurry up and get in the car. I want to get there early to check out the school.” I said, grabbing my keys and heading to my car.
After my sister, Kara, had successfully got in my car, we were off to the trenches. This is gonna be good.
