She stepped out of her car and slammed the door behind her, slipping her sunglasses on her face. She walked into the large company with complete disgust. The previous night, they issued a warning for her assistance to clear her outstanding debt and the assistance confided in her about it. She said she tried going to the bank but they didn't help her because they were always busy and saw her last. And when they did, they kept telling her to bring another document with the next day over the last week now. On top of that, they kept mailing her about outstanding debt. The last straw was when they threatened to repossess her house, well, she couldn't risk losing everything so she told her boss, Kanti. Now Kanti was here to sort this out and go back to having a good day. "Good morning, I'm here to pay the outstanding fees on this account," she said with fake politeness as she slipped her black card towards the secretary behind the glass. The clerk didn't even seem to acknowledge her presence as she just continued eating her lunch. She cleared her throat rather loudly, forcing the clerk to turn to her and put her food aside. "Yes, how may I help you?" the clerk asked, irritated. Kanti did not miss the half eye roll she gave her. "Fees," Kanti repeated with an attitude, tapping on her heels. "b***h," the clerk whispered to herself, as she took a look at Kanti's golden express bank card. No doubt she wished she'd owned it. "Excuse me?" Kanti asked in disbelief, daring the excuse of a lady to repeat herself. "Oh, sorry, you'll have to come back tomorrow for that. The office is full today," she tossed the card back, not even bothering to look half as apologetic as she was supposed to sound. "You little peasant," Kanti hissed, slamming her palm on the counter. "I won't assist you if you continue to disrespect me!" the clerk yelled, getting up from her seat. "w***e, you better watch that mouth. You don't know who the f**k you're talking to," she said dangerously low, her nose flaring. She saw fear flash through the clerk's eyes. At this point, everyone within sight turned to watch what was going on between them. "Where's the manager?" Kanti asked no one in particular as she looked around, her blood boiling over the top of her head. She's never been this mad at a bank clerk for as far as she can remember. First they want the money, then they refuse to take it? It didn't make sense to her.- The clerk came around angrily from behind her counter and grabbed Kanti's arm roughly, turning her around. "Who do you think-" Kanti turned and her other hand came flying and slapping the lady in the face. The lady grabbed her poorly powdered cheek as she stared at Kanti in shock. Kanti clenched her jaw when she thought of the definite mark she left on that deformed face. "That better be the last time you lay those god-forsaken fingers on me," she spat as she walked closer to the lady and tilted her head. "Is that clear?" she yelled in the lady's face, making her flinch. "You don't even know who I am, do you?" she scoffed. "Consider yourself blacklisted, you nonrecycable piece of trash!" At this point, Kanti was livid and her mood was completely ruined. She was going to have a word with the manager and lecture him on how disrespectful his employees were. The lady furiously wiped the fallen tears off her face as she looked down at the floor in complete shame. The CEO walked out behind his father after a staff member went to go inform them of the drama that was unfolding in their reputable banking company. "Would someone care to explain what went on here?" the owner, the father of the CEO, asked in a booming voice as he looked between the clerk and Kanti. He sighed out of frustration when his eyes landed on Kanti. Their eyes meeting briefly and he looked away quickly. He should have known she had something to do with this. She was always causing a stir whenever they met. Kanti wiped her stinging palm on her pants and thought of what she'd say when he confronted her. She and James didn't have the best history. Things between them ended in an awful manner, and she least expected to find him here, nor did she know he was the owner of the bank she never frequented. The constant, loud hiccuping of the secretary irked Kanti so badly she snapped her head at the lady and gave her a death glare. The two men noticed this and the CEO cleared his throat as a challenge Kanti to say something. Kanti was no stranger when it came to challenges. She rolled her eyes and turned to the lady of the hour. "Shut up. That was barely a touch." Women can be dramatic sometimes. "Everyone, please get back to work," James said as he awkwardly laughed the tension away, urging everyone to stop staring. They all robotically went back to what they were doing. James whispered to his son that he should take the secretary away while he had a talk with Kanti. "Follow me," he ordered Kanti and she scoffed. "Please." Kanti smirked when she stepped beside him as he lead her to the back where it was quieter. James knew she was not one to mess with, especially when she was seething with anger. "I hope this doesn't end well," she mumbled to herself as she walked into his office and took a seat on one of his Rococo leather settee. What's life without a little drama?
