Justin is making the call a few yards away. I listen intently for the girl's voice. The line goes dead silent after he asks if she's getting ready. I imagine she's horrified that my Beta knows her secret, too.
I consider standing up to go take the phone from him and talk to her myself, but I remain rigid where I'm sitting.

Doctor Colton is sitting across from me patiently. His senses are not as sharp as mine, so he can't hear the phone call. Although, out of courtesy, he's not trying to eavesdrop.
