Maggies’s POV
For the past week, Melanie did not go to the meeting point. Arnold was there, punctual, every single day. He waited and waited until it was late for her to get out of the house. He was very worried about her. Last time they met she was shivering because of the rain. He didn’t want her to be sick but secretly he was hoping that this was the reason for her not to go to their meeting point. He dreaded that he was too forward with her by calling her his. What if she got scared and was not ready for anything more with him? Sure it seemed like their relationship was not a friendship but the way he had approached it last time, he was hoping he was not scaring her away.
He was sitting under the tree as usual, with a book on his hand. He had started to read as well because he needed a way to make time pass if she was not going to show up. Suddenly, his peripheral vision caught some movement and he raised his eyes to check. His heart started beating again and he dropped his book on the grass when he jumped up from his sitting position. She was there. Finally, she came.
The surprise in her eyes was something he didn’t expect to see either. Was she unhappy to see him there or she was just not expecting him to be there waiting for her?
“Hey, you are here…” she said softly. Her voice was low and shaky.
“Yes, where else would I be?” I asked a bit annoyed by her sentence. “I have been waiting for you for every single day since we last saw each other. Arnold took a couple of steps towards her but didn’t go too close. He was still not sure if she wanted him that close or not.
“I’ve been… I've had… a fever all these days. My mother will kill me when she sees that I am out of the house,” Melanie said and his face dropped. Arnold felt guilty for thinking that she didn’t want to go see him all these days. That was the exact moment when his eyes opened up for real and he finally noticed how pale she looked. Her beauty was undeniable but this Melanie was nothing like the one he used to meet. Worry washed over him all of a sudden. There was no way he could express what he was feeling right now with words. Arnold took a couple more steps and stopped right in front of her. With his eyes, he was kind of asking for permission to step any further. Melanie didn’t react, though. It was like she was contemplating what to do. She lowered her head for a second and Arnold’s heart dropped a bit further down. Then, she took the last two steps and raised her arms to his neck. He leaned for a hug but Melanie had other plans. She pulled him near her face and closed her eyes. Her cheeks were crimson but that didn’t stop him to respond to her action. His way they shared their first real kiss. It was an overload of different feelings that none of them had ever felt before. For Melanie it was the first kiss she wanted to share and her inexperience was not a secret to anyone. Arnold, on the other hand, with all the experience he had, he had never shared a more intimate and heartfelt kiss like this one. This was definitely a first for both of them.
Emily’s POV
I consider myself to be a caring but fierce person. When needed, I never minded confronting people. Ethan, for example, always makes this part of me come out. He pushes my limits and I am sure I push his limits every time. The only time I needed to confront someone and couldn’t was with Aron. as much as his arguments seemed absurd to me today, I know him and I know that he must have been very upset to be able to say all those things. I really care about him and I don’t want to lose his friendship, but me going out with Ethan is something else. I don’t know what to think now. I already have doubts about this date, imagine how I felt when the first person I trusted apart from my family lashed at me like that.
Anyway, I better get ready because it’s almost time and I still am wearing a pair of leggings and a tee. I decided to wear the blue dress that was not too open on my chest but that hugged my figure perfectly until just a couple of inches above my knee. I am not a heels person so I am wearing nude ballerinas to go with it and a small over my shoulder handbag. A little bit of mascara and a nude lip gloss will do. I believe that if he likes me, he should like the real me, not the image I may create for one night just because we are on a date.
It is seven o’clock and Ethan is punctual. I am impressed, I would say. He never gave me the impression of a punctual person. On the other hand, he never gave me the impression that he dates and here he is.
I went out of the house because we had already agreed for him not to ring the doorbell, but wait outside I would go to him. Ethan was waiting out and leaned on the side of it facing the house. He was wearing a white tee-shirt and dark blue jeans. His hair was all over his face and he looked like he had been playing for a while with it. The almost shaved sides made the central part bring out his eyes even better. He moved his hair to the back once more and my eyes caught the rings on his fingers. Hot. So hot. Umm... Emily, pull yourself together.
“Hey, babe. You look beautiful today,” he said while looking at me up and down. Lust was evident in his eyes. My cheeks were probably red because of the realization but I wanted to play it cool so I held his gaze. He chuckled probably understanding my game and made a few steps forward. “Actually, you look hot with this dress on,” and that was what made me lower my eyes to the ground. Damn it! He chuckled some more.
“So, where are we going?” I tried to change the subject.
“I guess, that's for me to know and for you to find out," he said with a smirk on his face.
We entered his car and when I went to put the seatbelt on he took it from me and buckled it. Our faces were really close to each other and his eyes looking at mine. He then turned ahead and started the car, immediately pushing on the gas. The speed was not something I didn't do like so I gripped the seat to be able to stay safe. He probably noticed because the next thing he slowed the car down.
"Are you ok, baby?"
"Yeah, just too fast for my liking,"
"I thought all the girls liked speed. I guess your different in every way,"
" I guess…"
Ethan’s POV
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. I told her the last thing I should have said. Girls hate when you compare them to other girls. She didn’t comment on it, but I knew that she didn’t like it from the look in her eyes and her fading smile.
I hope that the rest of the date I planned for her goes well. I drove to the restaurant I had already reserved. She probably would have loved to go to the diner we met the other day but I wanted this to be special for her. Plus my parents owned it so I know we will get the best service in town. The drive was quiet but not awkward quiet until here, so I better start a conversation.
“I know you probably would have loved to go to the diner and have your favourite food but I wanted something special for today. Come,” I said and grabbed her hand to lead the way into the restaurant. “Hello, Joseph,” I greeted the receptionist by the door.
“Oh, hello Ethan. Your table is ready, I will call someone to show you the way,” he said and called someone immediately. In a few moments, we were seated near the centre of the restaurant, surrounded by other couples having dinner. We placed our orders and the waiter left immediately after. In just a few minutes the waiter came back with our white wine.
“I do not usually drink, but wine is the only one I enjoy from time to time,” she said raising her glass and taking a sip. A soft moan came out of her mouth and I shifted on my seat. What is this girl doing to me?
“Then, it’s a good thing we can have as much as we want here. But you have to promise me not to let out those sounds, if you want me to behave,” I teased her and the blush on her cheeks made another appearance. I love teasing her, even though I was actually saying the truth about the moan.
“Then, it’s good that I have self-control. I guess I will be safe,”
“We’ll see…”
