Chapter1
Maya stepped into the club, the pulsating music and flashing lights a welcome respite from the stress and anxiety that had been building up inside her. She had been working non-stop for weeks, trying to meet the impossible demands of her boss, and she was exhausted. She just wanted to let loose and forget about everything for one night. Jaxon too, was looking for a reprieve from the pressure. He wanted to escape the constant scrutiny and the club seemed like the perfect place to do so. Maya had been drinking all night, trying to drown her sorrows and forget her troubles. She was so drunk that she could barely stand, and she stumbled and fell as she tried to make her way to the bathroom. As she lay there, helpless and vulnerable, a group of boys started to close in, their eyes gleaming with a predatory intensity. Maya tried to fight them off, but she was too weak and too drunk. Just as all hope seemed lost, Jaxon appeared out of nowhere, his eyes blazing with anger and protectiveness. He fought off the boys and scooped Maya up in his arms, carrying her to safety. They stumbled back to Jaxon's place, both of them drunk and disoriented. They collapsed on the bed, exhausted and spent the night together. Maya woke up with a start, her mind foggy and her body aching. She looked around, trying to remember where she was and how she got there. She saw the unfamiliar room, the bed, and the naked man lying next to her. Panic set in as she realized what had happened. She had lost her virginity to a stranger, someone she didn't even know. She felt a wave of shame and regret wash over her, and she wanted to cry. Maya quickly got out of bed, trying not to disturb the man. She looked around for her clothes, her heart racing with anxiety. She found her dress and put it on, trying to compose herself. She saw a piece of paper and a pen on the nightstand and quickly wrote a note. Please don't try to find me. Maya left the apartment, closing the door behind her. She walked out into the bright sunlight, feeling a sense of shame and regret. She knew she had made a mistake, and she didn't know how to fix it. As she walked away from the apartment, Maya felt a sense of determination. She was going to move on from this, to forget it ever happened. She was going to make a new life for herself, one where she was in control. Jaxon woke up in his own bed, feeling groggy and disoriented. He looked around, trying to remember what had happened the night before. The events were hazy, but he recalled meeting a girl at the club and bringing her back to his place. He sat up, looking for the girl, but she was nowhere to be found. He felt a pang of disappointment, realizing she had left without a word. But then, memories of the night started flooding back. They had both been drugged, he realized. He remembered feeling disoriented and unable to resist. The girl had fought a little, and he recalled feeling a pang of guilt even in his drugged state. What really struck him, however, was the realization that she had been a virgin. He remembered her pain and shock, and his own feelings of remorse. Jaxon felt a wave of self-loathing wash over him. He had always prided himself on being in control, but last night had been different. He had slept with numerous woman but out of their willingness he never forced anyone but shockingly last night he lost control of himself. He got out of bed, determined to find the girl and make things right. He checked his phone, but there were no messages or numbers from the mysterious woman. Just then, he noticed a piece of paper on his nightstand. It was a note, written in shaky handwriting. Please don't try to find me. Jaxon's heart sank. He felt a deep regret for what had happened, and he knew he had to find her and make amends. He decided to search for her, hoping to find a way to make things right. Maya walked home alone, her heart heavy with shame and regret. She had never felt so vulnerable and alone. The events of the previous night replayed in her mind, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of violation. As she entered her small apartment, she felt a sense of relief wash over her. This was her sanctuary, her escape from the hell she had endured at her father's house. Maya's mind wandered back to her childhood, to the happy memories she had of her mother. But after her mother's passing, everything changed. Her father remarried, and Maya was forced to live with her stepmother and stepsister. The memories of the abuse and neglect still haunted her. Her father didn't care, and Maya felt like she was all alone. She walked to the bathroom, looking at her reflection in the mirror. She saw a broken girl, a girl who had lost her way. Maya began to cry, sobbing uncontrollably as she let out all the pain and anguish she had bottled up inside. As she cried, she realized that she couldn't keep living like this. She needed to take control of her life, to find a way to heal and move forward. Maya took a deep breath, wiping away her tears. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she was determined to start anew, to find a way to overcome her past and build a better future. Maya took a deep breath, trying to shake off the lingering emotions. She knew she had to get to work, or risk facing her boss's wrath. She quickly got ready, trying to compose herself as she headed out the door. As she walked to work, she couldn't help but think about her job. She hated it, but she needed it to survive. Her boss, Mrs. Smith, was a cruel woman who took pleasure in bullying Maya. She was always finding fault, always yelling, and always making Maya feel small. Maya arrived at work, her heart racing as she clocked in. She knew she was late, and she braced herself for the inevitable lecture. Maya, you're late again! Mrs. Smith barked, her voice dripping with disdain. You're useless, just like your mother Maya felt a sting from the words, but she tried to ignore it. She had learned to numb herself to the pain, to hide behind a mask of indifference. Maya bowed her head, her eyes cast down as she listened to Mrs. Smith's lecture. She knew better than to speak back, to defend herself. She had learned to take the abuse, to hide behind a mask of submission. Yes, ma'am, Maya whispered, her voice barely audible. I'm sorry, ma'am. Mrs. Smith snorted, her voice dripping with disdain. You're always sorry, Maya. But you never change. You're a disappointment, just like your mother. Maya felt a sting from the words, but she didn't react. She knew that defending herself would only make things worse. She had learned to swallow her pride, to take the abuse. As Mrs. Smith continued to lecture her, Maya's mind wandered back to the previous night. She thought about Jaxon, about the way he had made her feel. She thought about the shame and guilt that still lingered, but also about the spark of hope that had been ignited. After the lecture, Maya returned to her desk, feeling defeated and humiliated. But as she sat down, she saw a friendly face waiting for her. Joan, her best friend and confidante, was sitting at the next desk, a concerned look on her face. Hey, girl, what happened? Joan asked, noticing Maya's tears. Maya shook her head, trying to compose herself. Just Mrs. Smith being her usual self, she whispered. Joan nodded sympathetically. I'm so sorry, Maya. You don't deserve that. Maya smiled weakly, feeling grateful for Joan's presence. They had met in college, when Maya was being bullied by a group of girls. Joan had stepped in, saving Maya from the ordeal. Since then, they had become inseparable. Joan reached out and squeezed Maya's hand. You're strong, Maya. Don't let her get to you. Maya nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude towards Joan. She was lucky to have a friend like her, someone who understood her and supported her through thick and thin. As they worked, Joan kept a watchful eye on Maya, making sure she was okay. Maya felt comforted, knowing she had someone who cared about her.
