“No! No! No!” she dismissively said as she went near the door. But before she can completely leave me here, I uttered the sole reason why I want what I want.
“I love Silas,” she stopped in her tracks then looked at me again. “I love him. So much. And I know that he’s still hurting. And before I go, before I leave this world, I want to free him mom. I want us to have a closure. Please mom……. please.”
I was startled when she walked towards me and hugged me to her chest.
“Wherever you go, I’ll be there. Do you understand?”
What?
“Mom?” I asked her confused.
“I’ll go with you, I won’t let anyone hurt you again, okay? But please honey promise me.”
“Promise you what mom?”
“That if he doesn’t want you anymore. If he doesn’t accept your apology. If you’re hurting too much again, we’ll come home. Because I want to be with you for much longer honey.”
“Okay mom,” I said because I can already feel how much my mother is fighting the urge to stop me from this madness.
“Say it.”
“I promise.”
The next day, I undergo a septal ablation procedure which only lasted for two hours. Immediately after the operation, I felt extremely better. With the continuous medication and healthy diet and exercise, I gained strength and my condition continue to become better. And so, a week after the procedure, I was finally allowed to go home.
“I still need to call Sir Leo mom,” I told my mom when she asked me my plans. I cannot plan the date and the accommodation yet because I’m not even sure if Sir Leo will still accept me after everything that I’ve said to him.
What if he doesn’t accept me now? What will I do? That thought crept inside me that when the cellphone started ringing, I can feel my sweat. It’s a good thing that we were able to exchange phone numbers when he was here because it would be so much of a hassle if I don’t have his contact information.
“Erina?” I can hear the confusion and excitement mixed in his voice when he finally answered the call after three rings.
“Sir Leo?”
“Oh my god you called! Did you finally change your mind?” my mood immediately changed when I heard how enthusiastic he still talks to me. This is a good sign. It means that I still have a chance.
“If I did change my mind, will you still accept me?” I was hopeful when I said that but when I heard Sir Leo’s laugh, I couldn’t help but to smile too.
“Are you kidding me? Of course!”
We talked about everything that I needed to settle before going back there. He also offered his condo to us, so we won’t be worrying about where I’ll stay. I did tell him that my mother would come with me but I didn’t tell him about my heart condition.
After the call, my mother started arranging the things we need. Angelo and Uncle Loui will stay here because of Angelo’s school and of course, the business. Mom will be traveling back and forth but when Angelo’s school ends, she’ll bring Angelo with her to me.
We also needed to settle my medications and thankfully, my doctor here arranged my weekly check-ups with another doctor there. After that, we finally chose the dates when we can fly.
Two weeks after I was discharged from the hospital, we flew to the country where everything started.
Because of Sir Leo’s connection, we didn’t have any problem in the airport and in the transport to the condo. My face was hidden well so no one recognized me. After almost three hours, I finally saw Sir Leo waiting by the door of his condo.
He immediately walked towards me to hug me and my mother.
“I missed you!” he excitedly exclaimed.
The next few days were uneventful. I wasn’t allowed to go out and if there are meetings and contract signings that I needed to attend, we usually do it in the condo. I already met Sir Steve and Sir Kevin, the owners of Golden Medalist.
They are both very professional and I really appreciate how they care for my well being and told me that we will move at my own pace.
“What do you want to eat?” my mother asked as I scroll through my phone in the living room.
“Gimbap?” I answered because I’m really craving for it since yesterday.
“Okay,” she answered as we smiled at each other.
We were eating our lunch when my mother phone suddenly rang.
“Oh, it’s your Uncle Loui,” she said as she checked the caller id. “Hi baby? What?!” I was startled when my mother suddenly stood up.
“Okay! Okay! I’ll be there,” she dropped the call then immediately went to the bedroom.
“What’s happening mom?”
“You’re brother was in an accident.”
“What?!”
“He rode his bicycle and he hit a tree. Your uncle assured me that there are no major injuries, but your brother is looking for me so, are you going to be okay here?” mom asked while gathering her things.
“Of course, mom! You should go!”
After packing some things, and while I booked her flight, we immediately went to the airport. I already called Sir Leo and my mother wasn’t in the mood to wait anymore and so she agreed for me to drive her.
“I will call okay? Take care of yourself. I’ll come back as soon as possible.”
“Kiss Angelo for me mom.”
“I will.”
I was supposed to go straight home because I don’t really want to go out anywhere. But since the traffic was heavy, I decided to check my phone. When I saw the news of Silas’ fan meet in a supermall near here. I wasn’t able to stop myself and so, I did go. But what happen only broke my heart even more.
