Chapter five:the wedding

Gabriel POV

What do you expect as a guy on your wedding day uh,oh you and your friends to be around you talking and laughing to ease the wedding tension,then they dress up with you,and your bride is the only one thing that is on your mind right now,even if you laugh and talk there is still this feeling if anxiety inside of you,you just want to ease the moments,wishing it would last forever.But all this is not happening to me right now,instead am angry and pissed off,Am some how shame of my self,the ever proud,handsome man who was announced three times in world most handsome and most wanted as a husband in All day magazine,and now am settling down with a not so good to look woman,who did this to me!?,above all she rude and mannerless not even social friendly,am asking again who did this to me?

“Dude What are you still doing are you getting ready for the wedding?”Mathew ask as he entered my room and saw me in a miserable state,just then James also entered they were my best man for the wedding even when I told them not to,they still insisted saying ‘wedding is a wedding’

“What the..don’t tell me you’re going to be late,we only have three hours man come on get into your bathroom”James said as they join hands in dragging me inside the bathroom.who cares.

Becky POV

Seriously this is supposed to be the best day of my life,I mean in a lifetime right?cause it’s only go to happen once in your life! and am supposed to shouting in joy and singing around the house with me in a half done make up,jumping on the chairs cause that is probably the last time and day you’re going to sit on it.or I will be inside my room filled with my friends and family tease me about my wedding night,or gushing over the dress,singing love songs,dancing my strength out,or probably shouting something like ‘I can’t find my other pair of shoe or the dress is some how tight or loose.or we just keep shouting searching for things in the room because of it messy looks,or maybe waiting nervously for the designer to bring the dress since some adjustments were made,and above all that awkward moment and feelings they say they feel when it’s almost time for you to step into the aisle,or that moment they say ‘I do’ the feeling of excitement and hope for the future you will be having after few hours from then,oh what about the wedding night,the moment that you have been waiting patiently for all you life if you’re a virgin,the one thing they say that could make your heart beat skip some mili seconds.’all that feelings is not in me,not even a tiny little bit not even as an ant bite is in me,here I am looking blanking at my self,God knows how long I have been blinking stupidly,they even say brides cry but I don’t think that will ever happen in my case,why would it happen? instead of my room to be messy and filled with friends and loved one,no mine is almost empty,for Andy who has been moving her mouth and I am not able to hear anything coming out of it,or maybe am the one who is not in her world,what ever,am not even nervous do you think that am okay?....

“Becky Becky What is wrong are you having a cold feet?”Andy asked pushing me out of my world

“What What why are you shouting my name”I asked yelling at her

“I was only asking if you’re having a cold feet or something,what is wrong with you?”she asked defensively,i could see how hurt she was by my attitude,I have changed lately,I changed after that call,that one call which has taken my dreams and gave me nightmares,I can’t speak with any one without yelling or giving rude and arrogant response, this is not the me I know,but am getting used to it,my mom and dad rarely say a word to me these days after the party,I don’t like this new girl in me but am not willing to stop being this girl either so everyone should just bear with me,moreover they play the music so am just dancing that’s all.

“Sorry for the yell,and besides I don’t have any cold feet”I answered not looking at her eyes

“God! Becky not today of all days please” Mrs Nicholas said as she saw her daughter her face covered with makeup and the wedding dress did no good,even a little child would scream seeing her like this.

“Mom enough! you both wanted a wedding,and I am trying my very best to make it come through even if it means mine being ruin,Okay,and besides am putting on a vail and tick one at that,So one can see my face,happy?”I said coldly

“Becky please you can say what ever you want here but don’t make it any hard than it is already please”Mrs Nicholas begged

“Becky you’re taking things too far off this time why don’t you slow down a little”Andy request,and I couldn’t do anything but look blankly at them,do they slow down when they decided to sell me out? now that I took over the wheel they wants me to slow down,whosever is tired of the ride should jump out right?

“If you guys are done then can we go now,I mean aren’t we late already?” I asked as I walked passed them.my Dad was already waiting for us down stairs,I could see how he was nervous and dissatisfied probably because of my dress,I hate been the cause of their worries but they should understand that I didn’t cross any limits all because of the love and respect that I have for them,if not I would have ran way and wouldn’t come back for like five years after,they should be grateful instead cause I also considered their reputation in the society. We entered the car,since we’re not so big family,my dad was the only child of his parents,and it happened the from the fourth generation down to my dad they never had more than one child,so I am the only child of my parents.

The Venue

Gabriel POV

We arrived just in time waiting for the so called bride to arrive,James and Mathew stood by my side the own,even summer was here looking beautiful as ever if only I could say some magic words so my parents would ask me to marry her instead of waiting for that old woman.i didn’t know when I started laughing at my own thought

“Gabriel”Mrs Brown called as everyone was already wondering what is wrong with me

“Am sorry I just thought of something stupid”I said easing the laughter

“Are sure you’re okay Gabriel”summer ask with concern in her voice,and that attitude alone comforts me,so I drew her close and gave her a hug tight and whispered in her ear “am fine babe am fine, it’s just only going to be a year,and everything would be fine” it was more like I was telling myself

“Ahem uh....Gabriel”Mathew called,when we separated I saw my few minutes from now to be wife with her friend and family,the wedding was taking place at a garden the decor was as simple as the wedding,nothing fancy not even the bride,I could see the shame in her parents see and shock on my friends,even my aunty wasn’t satisfied with her look let alone the dress argh Good!.

Soon everything was done and thanks be to God that the father didn’t say ‘you may kiss the bride’ I guess he was disappointed with the bride,who wouldn’t be,take a closer look at me I mean the most handsome ever!.

Since there was no party,we....actually my parents decided that both families have a dinner together, i didn’t even bother to look at my wife while we were eating.

“Don’t you think that makeup is too much?”my Aunty Abby finally asked impatiently,the whole table was almost silent, ‘almost’ because my ‘wife’ was still continued eating like she was deaf

“Am taking to you young girl,beside this is your new family now,so show some respect”aunt Abby warmed.being the rude girl she was she kept on chewing silently until she finally looked up and gave my Aunt a warm look,but if you asked me something is behind that looks.

“What do you want me to say uh? Ok what if I say it’s too much would you help me with it ma’am”Becky asked politely,but I could feel the heat if each words

“Am sorry on behalf of her she is just not herself lately”Andy quickly apologized.but Becky seems not to feel sorry either,i wasn’t willing to interfere,i just wanted to know how far she can remain arrogant

“Ok she apologized not me,i would have apologized if I felt I did something wrong,But since that is not the case then i think...we should let the sleeping dog lie hmm”Becky said more calmly

“I am really sorry....”

“It okay we understand”my father said cutting mr Nicholas short

“I will leave now”I said and stood up since the drama was ending,i took summer away.

The family just watched him leave they couldn’t say anything as they were looking at Becky,....Becky who was not paying attention instead was eating her food silently soon she was done.

“If all of you all done with the look then someone should tell me where i will be passing the night.cause i came with my bags already,see am ready for marriage”Becky said sarcastically.

“Uh sorry,here is the spare key to the house that I gifted you both”mr Brown said handing the key to Becky,she took the key with a smirk

“Wow so much for a wedding gift,thanks,i hope is not somewhere far from the city,cause I will be having problems driving this late”Becky asked dryly

“No not at all”Mrs Brown answered

“Come on Andy help me out”Becky said as she stood up and walked briskly towards the car park

“Call me if you need anything”Mrs Nicholas said as she saw her off.
