CHAPTER TWO

1078 Words
She turned but couldn't see who had called out to her from amongst the vehicles driving down the streets of Georgia that night. She was certain no one knew her and even if anyone did know Aurora Stone, it had to be on a personal note as she had always tried to keep a low profile all her life. Suddenly a black tinted car pulled up by the side of the walkway where she was walking down and then a lady from the car rolled down the side window and called out to her again this time calmly, “Aurora Stone” while grinning from ear to ear. Aurora, filled with so much excitement, jumped on her and gave her a hug through the car's side window. The lady was Katherine Woods, Aurora's only childhood friend and confidant. Katherine had just come into Georgia earlier that day and she wanted to surprise Aurora. She was on her way to doing that in Aurora's family house when she saw her walking along the streets of Georgia like one who had been thrown out, abandoned and rejected. Katherine quickly flung the car door open and gave Aurora a tight hug. They hugged like sisters who had been separated for years and finally reconnected after being away from each other. “What happened, Aurora? Where are you off to?”, she asked without even giving Aurora a chance to speak or answer any of the questions she threw at her. “Which one do I answer first?” Aurora said with a cracky voice. “Both”, Katherine added and fixed a stare at her face expecting a swift reply from her. As Aurora opened her mouth to speak, the words couldn't flow as tears trickled down her cheeks. Katherine immediately held and gave her a warm, soothing embrace amidst her sobs. She then carefully led her into the car with her luggage and told the driver to take them both to the hotel in Georgia where she was lodging and Aurora sobbed herself to sleep on Katherine's shoulder. After taking a shower and Katherine treating her to a sumptuous meal that she ordered from the hotel where Katherine was lodging, Aurora still looking like a shadow of herself now looked like she was finally ready to narrate her ordeal to her friend, the only person who she felt safe and secure talking to. “Wow” this is really tough, Katherine said after a long period of silence after listening to Aurora narrate what had just transpired between her Dad and herself. “But Aurora you know you could have simply just yielded to your Dad's demands and avoided all of these trouble and mess you're currently in?” “I would have done so if I were you”, she added. “As long as there's money involved, I don't mind whether the guy in question is befitting or not”. “Well I'm not you Katherine!”, Aurora screamed and stormed into the washroom while locking herself in all at once. “Aurora please open up, I'm sorry. Please I didn't mean to upset you even more, I know words have a way of getting to you, I shouldn't have said all I said”. After minutes of no response, Aurora unlocked the door of the washroom. “Aurora, Aurora”, Katherine called out to her again. She walked out quietly and changed into clothes she was comfortable in and walked out of the door of their hotel room without uttering a single word to Katherine. Katherine didn't bother to go after her since she was already quite mad at her. She just hoped she would find her way back to the hotel room safe and sound. Aurora found her way to the bar of the hotel and just sat there staring into empty space, one would barely have an idea of what exactly she was fixing her gaze on. “One more glass bartender”, she called out. She had gone from one glass to one bottle and countless bottles, but she was still very much conscious of her environment. Somehow, she managed to get herself to walk towards the washroom to ease herself but it seemed like someone was following her secretly. Suddenly she felt a masculine muscular hand grab her arm causing her intense pain. Before she realized what had transpired, she was silenced with a cellotape and a cloth material which was used to tie her mouth and blindfold her eyes respectively. He then put her on his back like a luggage and was carrying her to a place that seemed to her like a dark corner as she kept struggling to break free from whoever it was that had laid an ambush on her. She however managed to wriggle her way down on her feet but she could barely take any steps since the person in question had her eyes blindfolded and wouldn't stop dragging her both hands. Her struggle was followed by a heavy punch on the arm of the fellow who was trying to forcefully take her away. “Let her go!” A deep, hoarse voice said authoritatively and firmly. As he tried to make his escape, he was immediately stopped by a punch on his face which caused him to fall flat on his face. Aurora immediately untied the blindfold to understand what was going on. “Ryan Gordon” she screamed, "what were you trying to do to me?” Ryan immediately disappeared out of sight for the fear of being beaten more than he already had. “Thank you”, Aurora said to the man who had just saved her from the evil schemes of Ryan. Ignoring her, he simply just walked away towards the direction where he had parked his car. “I said Thank you, she yelled again, this time louder than the first. Entering into his car, he drove off without uttering a word or even responding to her ‘thank you’. “He's definitely weird, because why else would he ignore me or my ‘thank you’. ” “How rude!” she said again with a smirk on her face as she walked back into Katherine's hotel room. But she couldn't help but kept wondering who it was that saved her and why he walked away and drove off the way he did.
