CHAPTER FIVE

"Who's that in the Secretary's office?" Reece asked Bianca his Executive Assistant. "Sir, that is Miss Aurora Stone, the new secretary of the company".
He just ignored her and barged into the office where Aurora was sitted working on a laptop. She was startled because of how he barged in so she immediately sprang up from the seat.
"I'm Reece Anderson, the CEO of Maryville Constructions and you are who again?"
"My name is Aurora, Aurora Stone" Aurora replied sounding fidgety.
“Bianca, will you walk this lady out of this premises before I call the security to throw you both out!” He said sternly.
“Ma'am please get your things and leave, we would communicate with you shortly”
Aurora, still looking confused as to what had just transpired, simply took her things and was already on her way out of Maryville Constructions.
“Wait!” She heard a voice say. “Go back to your work” Reece said without any form of remorse and stormed into his office.
“Letting her go so easily will definitely come in the way of my revenge, as long as she stays, I can always get my own pound of flesh” Reece thought aloud.
Aurora went back to her office space and put back her stuff though she had not the slightest idea about what was going on.
Just then her office phone line rang and she answered saying “Hello”.
“Miss Aurora Stone, I want to see you in my office before the water I spilled on this floor dries up”.
It was the CEO, Reece Anderson who was on the line. Aurora quickly dashed to the direction of his office as she didn't want to be in any more trouble with the Boss than she already had.
“Work on these files and return them to my office by 4pm this evening”.

Aurora looked at the heap of files he had asked her to work on. “These are so much to work on before 4,” she thought aloud.
“Did you say something Miss Stone?” Reece said, looking away from his laptop. “No sir," she said and hurriedly started packing the files on the table.
As she tried putting them together, the stack of files came clattering on the floor one after the other.
“I can see you're not only dumb but also clumsy” Reece said without even taking a glance at her.
She immediately gathered the files and walked out of his office. She had two issues facing her, one was to figure out what to do with those files as her grumpy boss didn't tell her what to do with them.
Secondly, she had to work on them and return them to Mr. Reece by or before 4pm and the time was already past 12 noon.
As she got back to her office space and subk into the chair, she wondered if agreeing to get father's decision to marry her off was better than being stuck in this place with such an unhappy fellow.
Just then, a phone call brought her wandered mind back. It was from Mrs. Lisa Stone, Aurora's Mum and she wondered why she would be calling at that time since she was well aware that it was her working hours.
“Hello Mum”, “Aurora my dear, I really need to see you today”, her mum said sounding disturbed.
“Mum are you fine?” Aurora asked. There was a thick silence that even the sound of a pin if dropped would be heard.
“Alright, you could come over to the house this evening Mum, we would get to talk about what you want to talk about”, she said and hung up.
She got back to the files Mr. Reece had assigned and luckily, soon enough, she found out what she had to do with them and got into it right away.
At about 3:51pm, she rushed into Mr. Reece's office to hand in the files.
“These are the files you asked me to work on sir”, she said in the calmest of tones.
“What sort of dumb work is this?” He yelled, flinging one of the files to one corner of the office.
“Do I need to remind you that you got this job without any working experience or are you tired of working with Maryville Constructions?
“I need this back in my office in the next one hour thoroughly redone and worked on”
Aurora took the files and wondered what corrections she needed to make on them. She couldn't understand why he was so difficult and mean to her.
She was literally in tears when Mr. Ken walked into her office space. Mr. Ken was Reece Anderson's Business Partner, he had just walked into the company for a meeting with Reece when Bianca, Reece's Executive Assistant narrated what had transpired between Aurora and Mr. Reece Anderson.
After taking a look at the files and found no errors contained in any of them, he asked Bianca to carry the files and go along with him to Mr. Reece's office.
“Reece, what exactly do you want the poor lady to correct in these files? I can't find any mistakes here.”
Reece looking up said to Bianca, “Tell Miss Stone she can pack up and close for the day”
Aurora quickly put her things together and was soon on her way home. Apparently, her Mum had been calling her non-stop and that was beginning to increase her worries.
“Mum I'll be with you shortly, I had a little delay at work”, Aurora answered the call as she tried to board a cab home.
Meanwhile Ken started to tackle Reece following the incident that just transpired between himself and Aurora.
“Don't tell me you were trying to pick on her, because that's the perfect description of what you just did?”
“You wouldn't want to know who her father is”, Reece responded, pacing up and down the room.
“Who?” “Williams Stone” he blurted out angrily.
“Now I get it. Ohh I see” Ken said. “But you have to take it easy man, the man is the one who hurt you, not his daughter, you can't just be punishing the innocent lady the way you're doing”.
“I don't care! If she has to be the one to pay for her father's sins, then I'll gladly make her pay” he said with pain in his voice.
Aurora on the other hand was caught in a web of confusion. Her mum had just informed her that her dad was cheating on her with someone whom she believed was close to the family.
But who was it trying to tear the remaining part of the Stone Dynasty apart?
Who was the enemy within?
