CHAPTER FOUR

Aurora was to move out of the hotel room where she was lodging with Katherine and moved into the apartment which she had gotten for herself with the money she had saved coupled with the one her Mum had given her. Katherine was leaving Georgia back to Netherlands where she worked and lived as her work leave period was almost coming to an end. Her interview day, Monday finally came. She was dressed corporately, putting on blue coloured pants, a white t-shirt, an ash coloured jacket and a brown pair of shoes to fit. Of course, her outfit would never be complete without her round-shaped pair of glasses. "Miss Aurora Stone, you're next", a voice echoed in the background of the interview waiting room. Aurora walked smartly to where the interview was being held. "Credentials!?" Immediately, she brought forward her credentials. “Wow! Such nice cologne,” Aurora admired the scent she had perceived. Just before she could see the face, the tall, muscular man had walked past her. That was the last thing she remembered vividly before the unfortunate scandal happened. A huge man had pushed her to the bed, though he staggered a bit. “I promise to be gentle on you, you look so delicate and harmless”, he managed to say” “Mmmmm…”, Aurora muttered. That was all she was able to recall when the questions kept coming as to how she suddenly took in and got pregnant with Xavier. "No work experience!" The husky voice exclaimed looking up and bringing her back from her thoughts, finally revealing his face. "I don't have any yet", Aurora replied with almost a shaky voice. He gave the lady who was his Executive Assistant a stern look and she understood immediately. “Ma'am please you can leave now, we will get in touch with you if you eventually qualify for the position”. She said hurriedly. Aurora left without saying any words. She knew she had met the CEO before the just transpired incident. But where? She wondered. The voice sounded like the voice of the tall, full-bearded man she bumped into on the day she came to inquire about the vacant position. Then, she remembered she did not get to see what his face looked like before he stormed off. But now the face was also sending signals to her brain that they had met earlier on prior to the whole interview incident. Anyway, that was the least of her concerns. She only prayed silently that she'd get the job, at least, that would make up for all the stress she had encountered in trying to secure it. But the CEO’s cologne was familiarly striking. She got back to the hotel to get some rest, Katherine had gone to shop for some essentials with which she would be travelling back to Netherlands with. Apparently, they had grown quite distant towards each other and only spoke when it was necessary, so the presence of either of them to the other really made no difference. Aurora could not wrap her fingers around the fact that her best friend failed to understand her especially as it got to do with the entire arranged marriage saga. She just heaved a sigh and sank into the sofa in their hotel room. She had already begun the process of moving her belongings into the new apartment which she had paid for with her last bulk savings. Now she would have to rely solely on the few bucks her mum gave her the lady time she visited till she will be able to earn an income of her own, one of the reasons she desperately prayed she would get the job at Maryville Constructions. “I'd be moving out the day after tomorrow”, Aurora said disrupting the deafening silence in the room. Katherine looked up eagerly as if she had been waiting for her to start up a conversation between them. “Aurora!" She said and jumped on her happily. "I'm sorry for how insensitive I was about how you felt about this entire arranged marriage" and have her a side hug tightly. Aurora looked with her with what looked like a somewhat annoyed face and it immediately transformed into a wide smiling facial outlook. They were interrupted by a buzz from Aurora phone. "Hello am I speaking to Aurora Stone?" The voice from the other end said. "Yes, this is Aurora Stone", Aurora replied. "Alright this is Maryville Constructions and I'm calling to inform you that you've been offered a job as the position of the Secretary in Maryville Constructions, feel free to resume on Monday". "Thank you so much", Aurora said excitedly as the voice dropped the call. "Katherine I got the job! Katherine I got got the job!" Aurora screamed at the top of her lungs and jumped on Katherine almost pushing her to the ground. "Congratulations darling", Katherine responded grinning from ear to ear. But something was not adding up. She recalled the CEO telling her that her lack of work experience was the one reason why she didn't qualify for the position. Somehow, though she was overly excited about her new job, she was not comfortable with the fact that it was still a mystery to get as to how she was able to walk her way through the heart of the very Mean CEO who had now become her boss, she laughed out loud at the thought of what working with Mr. Grumpy would be like. How did she manage to scale through and disqualify other applicants who had years of work experience? Did she manage to find her way into his good books or would she have something to be worried about?
