PANIC AND TERROR gripped Congressman Dimaano, his wife, and their two children as the sounds of gunfire echoed from outside. Dimaano knew exactly who could be attacking them. He just never expected Elijah to strike this soon—not after seeing him conversing with Saul Tieves, plotting against the Don of Senza Pièta.
"Honey, what is happening?! Why are there gunshots outside?! Are these your political enemies?!" Dimaano's wife cried out, trembling as she held their children tightly in her arms.
"I have no idea! But don't worry, honey. We have men outside. They won't let anyone get inside," Dimaano assured her, though his mind was racing.
Shit! Why did Penelton attack so suddenly? I thought I still had time to escape...
His thoughts were cut short when the bedroom door was violently kicked open. Elijah stepped inside, followed by Samara and Saul.
"Pe-Penelton..." Dimaano stammered, his face draining of color. How had he gotten inside so easily?
The children screamed and buried their faces in their mother's chest. Samara looked at them, feeling a pang of pity. They were innocent, yet they were being dragged into the mess their father had created.
"Don't cry. We are only here for your father," Samara couldn't help but say softly to comfort them.
Elijah immediately turned to her. "What are you doing?"
"Just reassuring them we won't hurt them. They're just kids, can't you see they're crying?" she replied.
Elijah clicked his tongue in annoyance. "We are sparing their lives, so stop worrying about them."
Samara stepped closer to him, forcing Elijah to stop and look at her. "Don't you have any sympathy for children, Mr. Penelton? What if you had your own kids someday, huh?"
Elijah stared at her intently. Suddenly, an image flashed in his mind—Samara carrying his child.
"S-Should I have that?" he muttered absentmindedly.
"Uhmmm... excuse me, Il Capo..." Saul interrupted awkwardly, sensing the tension.
"Oh right! Let's focus on Congressman Dimaano first," Samara said, shifting her sharp gaze back to the terrified politician.
Dimaano looked at Saul, unable to believe the man was still alive—especially after Elijah found out he had conspired to bring down Senza.
"W-What do you want from us?! Are you enemies of my husband? Please, have mercy! My husband does nothing but help people!" Dimaano's wife pleaded tearfully.
Elijah looked at her coldly. "You think your husband is a saint?"
"M-Mr. Penelton, p-please forgive me..." Dimaano whimpered as Elijah walked towards him, making him stumble backward in fear.
"Don't you dare hurt my husband!"
"Daddy!" the children cried. Samara moved closer to them to calm them down.
"Mrs. Dimaano, you don't know the real man you are married to. He is nothing like what you see," Samara said gently.
"W-What do you mean?"
"Honey, don't listen to them! Everything they say are lies---"
Dimaano couldn't finish. Elijah firmly covered his mouth with one hand and leaned closer.
"Don't f*****g interrupt when she is talking."
"The man who pretends to be good in front of you and the public is all just an act," Samara continued. "He is involved in corruption, stealing millions from the government, and he is also part of drug smuggling operations."
Mrs. Dimaano looked at her husband in shock and horror. Dimaano tried to speak, but Elijah's hand muffled his voice.
"T-That's not true..."
"I know it's hard to believe, but it is the truth. Furthermore, he is holding the daughter of my companion here as leverage to force him to help overthrow our boss," Samara pointed at Elijah.
"Where is my daughter, Congressman? Give her back to me," Saul demanded.
Elijah removed his hand from Dimaano's mouth. "Answer him."
"I don't know what you are talking abou--- UGHH!"
Elijah punched him hard in the stomach, sending Dimaano to his knees, coughing and gasping in pain.
"Have you no shame? You are raising your family through dirty money. Is this the future you want for your children?" Samara scolded.
"M-Mr. Penelton... I only allied with Moretti to bring down Senza because he offered me a huge sum!" Dimaano confessed, desperate. "If you are looking for Tieves' daughter, she is in the basement! I didn't do anything to her! I was just using her to force Tieves to cooperate with me!"
His wife looked at him, utterly devastated. "W-What did you say, Rafael? So... so everything they said is true?!"
"H-Honey, I did all this for the future of our children!"
"By doing corruption and illegal things?! Is this the future you want to give them?!" she screamed at him through her tears.
Samara suddenly remembered something else. "Oh right! Mrs. Dimaano, your husband is also hiding a mistress from you, and they even have a child together. Half of his income goes to that other woman."
"Wh-What...?"
"H-Honey, d-don't believe h---"
"---Are you saying that my Samara is lying?" Elijah cut in, his voice ice-cold.
Samara blinked as what he heard from Elijah. "My? What do you mean by 'my', Mr. Penelton?"
Elijah froze, realizing what he had said. "Did I say that?"
"Of course I heard it! My hearing is perfectly fine, right Saul? Didn't he say that?" Samara turned to her companion.
Saul immediately took several steps backward. "I... I heard nothing."
"Ahhh... when I say 'my', it means 'my people'. You are now under my wing, so you are under my leadership," Elijah explained quickly, clearing his throat before turning his glare back to Dimaano.
"You shameless man! I thought you were a decent husband and father, but you are evil! How could you lie to me like this?! You deserve to burn in hell!" Dimaano's wife raged.
Samara patted her back. "You have every right to be angry, Mrs. He is worthless. Just leave him to us; we will make sure he pays for what he did. And please, don't report us to the police, okay?"
"Do whatever you want with that man! I never want to see that cheater ever again!"
"Wait, honey---"
Again, Elijah covered Dimaano's mouth. "You are coming with us."
He dragged the helpless politician out of the room without mercy.
"I know this is hard to accept, Mrs., but please think of your children," Samara said softly before following Elijah and Saul outside.
"Have mercy, Mr. Penelton! Please have mercy!" Dimaano begged as he was being pulled along. Elijah responded with a powerful punch to the face, knocking the man out cold instantly.
"So, Saul... do you think Dimaano is heading straight for death now?--- Hey, why are you walking so slow?" Samara complained, noticing Saul was keeping a huge distance between them.
"I'm... I'm just being careful, Silas."
"Careful of what?"
"I... I have a child already, Silas. And... it's better if I stay away. Il Capo is... different towards you than he is to me," Saul muttered.
"What are you talking about, Saul?"
"Samara."
Elijah called out. He had stopped walking and was waiting for her.
"Why?"
"Let's bring this asshole to my manor," Elijah ordered.
Samara immediately walked towards him. "Then let me drag Dimaano out. I'll do it."
She reached out to take hold of the unconscious man, but Elijah swiftly pulled Dimaano away from her reach.
Samara looked at him, confused. "I said I'll carry him out---"
"---I didn't tell you to touch him, did I?" Elijah cut her off.
"I can't touch him?"
"Yes. Not unless I say so."
"Wait. You are the Don, the leader. As your subordinate, shouldn't I be the one handling the prisoners? That's how it works, right?" she argued.
"I won't let your hands touch this trash. Just follow me," Elijah stated firmly.
Samara was about to protest when Saul stepped forward and held her arm. "Don't argue anymore, Silas. Just do what Il Capo says."
"I just don't understand him," she huffed.
Elijah's eyes darkened as they landed on Saul's hand gripping Samara's arm.
By now, the gunfire had ceased. Vito, Lorenzo, Taddeo, and Casimiro arrived, immediately seeing Elijah holding the unconscious Congressman.
"Il Capo---"
"---Did I or did I not tell you to stay five centimeters away from her, Tieves? And now you are touching her?" Elijah's voice was low and dangerous.
Saul immediately pulled his hand away as if he had been burned, stepping far back from Samara. "So-Sorry Il Capo! It... it slipped my mind..."
"What is going on here?" Samara asked, utterly confused.
Elijah ignored her and addressed his men. "Miro, find the basement. Take Tieves with you to get his daughter."
"Yes, Il Capo."
"Deo."
"Y-Yes, Il Capo!" Taddeo answered immediately.
Elijah released his grip on Dimaano, letting the body drop heavily on the floor.
"Bring this asshole to my manor. Lock him in the f*****g basement."
"Copy, Il Capo." Taddeo quickly moved to carry the unconscious man.
"Follow me," Elijah said.
Lorenzo and the others weren't sure who he was talking to.
Samara tried to approach Saul again, but he literally ran away from her. She was starting to get really annoyed.
"Do I have some contagious disease, Saul?!"
"Why are you running away from Silas, Tieve---"
"---I told you to follow me, Samara."
Elijah's command cut Taddeo off. Everyone turned to look at their Don, who was already near the staircase.
"Me?"
"Is there another Samara here? Tss. I'll take you back to the club. It's almost dawn. Let's go."
Elijah started walking down the stairs, leaving Samara behind with Lorenzo and the others, who were all staring at her with wide eyes and raised eyebrows.
"Oh? Why are you all looking at me like that?"
