THE DEPARTURE
Five hundred years ago, two souls merged to become one. They enjoyed their intimacy in peace and harmony. Those who witnessed their intimacy modeled their way of life. Though having no child, they took care of the children of many people.
Sickness visited the man and laid him in bed with a sweet sorrowful lullaby. On his deathbed, he said to his woman, ‘My dear, my ancestors are here’. Tears rolled down the wrinkled cheeks of the woman with her tongue frozen. The man said, ‘Do not cry, I will always be here to take care of you, I promise’. After saying this, he turned his face against the wall. Sadness embraced the woman and in a loud voice, she said:
Oh seventy seven gods of our land,
Why have you taken my breathe away?
You have emptied my heart and
Snatched my soul into the dark
How do you want me to live?
Without my breathe, my heart and my soul?
How? How? How?
Still in the arms of sadness after being left by her husband, death came again to lay his cold hand on the woman. Before she poured the salt, she said, ‘I’m coming to you dear husband, so that you can continue taking care of me’.
Will these two souls really meet again? And if so, will their love life be as beautiful as it was before?
