Prologue
Life wasn’t always so hard for Rosy. She was spoiled and rich. Aren’t most teenagers though? Who knew one thing could be life-changing?
Rosy used to be so close to her brother. After the car accident, she distanced herself. Even after all the therapy she went to, she’s not the same. She may never be the same.
3 years ago:
“9-1-1, what is your emergency?”
“Yeah, uh I just got in an accident. My parents aren’t awake. I don’t know what to do,” Rosy says while hanging upside down.
“Do you know where you are?” the 9-1-1 operator responds.
“No, I don’t know where we are. My mom was just driving. It was a routine drive. We came to pick my brother up. Oh my god, my mom isn't in her seat! Mom! Mom! Please send help!”
“I need you to stay calm, ma’am. I’ve sent out help. They should be there soon. Meanwhile, I need you to stay on the phone.” Sirens wail in the background on Rosy’s line. “Is your father still in his seat?”
“Uh, yes. I believe so.”
“Can you check his pulse?”
“I can try.” She paused trying to find her father's pulse. “It’s faint but it’s still there. He’s alive! Thank god!”
The sirens wailed even louder, close. They were here. Everything will be okay.
Things weren’t okay. Rosy’s parents were hanging on to their life by a thread. Rosy’s mom was found by a bush. The bush supposedly cushioned her fall a bit. The thread that was keeping Rosy’s parents with her, broke. It broke right in the Operating Room.
Life can change drastically in one second, Rosy learned. There are good and bad changes. You choose where life takes you.
