The sun was setting when I returned home, the sky painted with hues of orange and pink. I stepped through the front door, expecting the usual quiet of the evening. Instead, I heard the muffled sounds of sobbing coming from the living room. Concern gripped me as I hurried towards the source.
"Mom?" I called out, my voice echoing through the hallway.
In the living room, I found my mother, sitting on the couch, her shoulders shaking with sobs. Her usually composed and dignified demeanor was shattered, and it broke my heart to see her like this.
