The Mine

Eddy returned to his room there was a message for him on the workshop table. Eddy picked it up and read it, in it was written: The great Vilen wants you to move to the Mile of Tera and get the great magic stone that has been restored in its great depths. Remember that the white souls are mining for it, we have the location of the stone. Your partner in the task will be Geld, we have sent the location to Geld. Kill anyone who comes in the way, also the Abandoned Squad in on its way to rob the mile for gems. We have nothing to do with the gems, so if possible, get only the stone. As we are in the race with the squad get to work fast.

“Work with that ungraceful fat rhino what a mess,” Eddy spoke to himself. Eddy did not like Geld, there were no reasons to hate but also no reasons to be friendly beside Eddy never liked his fat, and ugly face. But Eddy had no option, Eddy sighed in despair and fell on his bed, when he woke up, he saw Geld dressed in armor and ready to leave. Eddy sat on his bed, Geld offered him water and said, “I hope you read the message, we must leave now.” Eddy drank the water got up and said, “You wait outside, I will change and come.”

After a while, Eddy and Geld left for the Mile of Tera, there was a troop of men with them. Geld was a great warrior and trustworthy of the king, he was good at using various weapons beside that he had a huge physical power. Geld never trusted anyone, and he had his own ways of working, he killed many white warriors in his life. Eddy thought that Geld was slow and old and that was the only reason of sending him with Geld.

The mile was guarded with soldiers, beside that it was deep inside the ground and narrow, even if they would manage to kill the guards it would be difficult for them to shade the workers off and get to the stone. Geld and Eddy reached the mile, Eddy were observing it from the shadows, Eddy came to Geld and said, “Thirteen watchers and two captains and a sergeant. What’s the plan?” Geld looked at Eddy and said, “We will attack the army and distract it and you get inside the mile and get the stone.” Eddy sighed and replied, “I have a better plan, we will send the army to attack the nearby village this will shade of the captains and sergeants, then I and three soldiers will enter the mile in disguise, you guard the mile. We will manage to get out all the good from the mile and then we will send signal to the army to retreat and leave.” Geld agreed with the plan, but destiny had other choices for him.

Everything worked according to plan, Eddy and Geld got to the opening of mile, Eddy and three warriors entered the mile before entering the mile Eddy warned the other warriors not to harm any innocent person. Geld was guarding the mile with few soldiers, when suddenly smoke emerged out from somewhere. Geld covered his mouth, slowly the smoke began to fade up, from the smoke Geld could see three figures walking towards him. One of them was shorter than other two, one on the right was pale and the one on the left was sturdy. The smoke faded away now the only person standing on the ground were the three intruders and Geld, the rest were lying on ground fainted.

The center one whispered to the one on the right, “You said everyone will faint, then why is this man standing here?” the other one replied in whisper, “Can’t you see he is covering his mouth.” the one in the center asked Geld, “Hey bro, you seem to be skin conscious.” the one on the left added further, “even if you are not that handsome.” and all the three of them laughed. “Who are you?” Geld asked them. “The Abandoned Squad” all the three replied together.

The center one added further, “I am Avan, the lynx” then the right one added, “Iba, the eagle.” and finally the one on left added, “Alle, the best.” the rest of the two looked at him, Iba said, “I thought you were a dog.” Alle replied, “Of course I am.” then Avan asked, “Why did you call yourself best?” “Impact bro.” Alle replied. “If you have finished with yourself can we fight?” Geld asked the Abandoned Squad. “Fight! See old man, we can settle things with discussion too.” Avan replied. “I have been ordered to kill anyone arriving here.” Geld replied and added, “and I have heard that you have robbed many supplies that were being sent to the Yusan.” “Well bro, it’s called a robbery at the robbers house.” Avan replied. Behind his back Iba said to Alle, “The old man is from Yusan.” Alle replied, “Yes, I also think the same.”

Geld replied, “The punishment for every crime in Yusan is death, and today I will punish you for your crimes.” Iba asked, “Is he telling us indirectly that he will kill us?” Avan replied, “I think so.” Alle added, “Friends I think I forgot to put off the fire under the meat, I must leave, or it will get roasted.” Iba replied immediately, “And people think dogs are loyal.” Alle and Iba stared at each other. Avan said to both, “Guys I think we must be ready to fight.” By the time Geld had pulled of the wardrobe, he was heavily armored and carrying a huge sword in his hands.

Avan told Alle, “Alle throw the fainting bombs.” Alle did not respond, Avan looked at Alle. Alle replied, “Bro, I brought just three and we used them on army.” Iba laughed at Alle. Avan turned at Iba and said, “Iba use your smoke bombs it will help for the attack.” Iba turned silent. Both Alle and Avan turned towards Iba, Iba said, “I forgot to take them.” Geld rushed towards the three and attacked them, but the squad was not so easy to get.

“Okay guys, lets begin.” Alle said to others, “Yeah, I don’t think we have any other option.” Iba replied, “So let’s show him the power of Abandoned Squad.” Avan replied. “Well then it would be fun playing with you guys.” Geld replied. Avan rushed towards Geld and tried to punch him but before he could do so Geld slashed his sword at Avan, he managed to escape the s***h, just then Alle rushed towards Geld and tried to kick him but Geld again put his sword between them and Alle jumped back. Iba jumped at Geld from behind but and kicked his back but Geld did not move from his place, he turned and punched Iba but Iba managed to dodge it.

Alle said, “It won’t be easy to fight with bare hands we must use weapons.” Iba said, “You are right.” Alle used the ‘Supple Spear’ and Iba used ‘Dual Assaulter Sword.’ Alle and Iba took out their weapons but Avan was standing with bare hands, “Guys, I forgot my sword.” Alle and Iba stared at Avan, Geld took the opportunity and punched both, Alle and Iba fell few feet away. “I swear if we survive this battle, I will kill you Avan.” Iba shouted. Geld jumped at Alle with his sword, Alle managed to block the attack, Iba used his Dual Assaulter and slashed Geld, Geld fell apart from Alle, Iba lend a hand to Alle and Alle stood on his feet.

Avan came near Alle and Iba and asked, “Are you alright?” Alle and Iba gave him an angry look, Avan looked away. “I think it’s over; the s***h of assaulter is impossible to bear.” Avan said to other two. “It’s not over yet!” Geld moaned and stood up on his feet, he snatched and threw the broken armor away. “So, the s***h broke his armor.” Alle murmured. “I think it would go for a long.” Iba replied. Geld threw a knife towards Alle and Iba, they managed to dodge it. Iba slashed the sword again at Geld but Geld moved aside, as soon as Geld moved aside, Avan attacked him with his shield from other side, Geld was unable to dodge the attack. The blow of sword made Geld flew in the air, Alle took the advantage and attacked Geld with spear, it was impossible for Geld to dodge it hurt his left arm. Geld fell few feet away, all three got on one side.

“You guys don’t know whom you are messing with!” Geld shouted as he got on his feet. Geld was going to summon his beast but before he could do so, smoke spread everywhere. When the smoke disappeared, Geld was nowhere to be seen. “He escaped; I know he was fearing to me.” Avan boasted. “We must get the gems, now.” Alle suggested and they moved towards the mine.

Eddy and Geld were moving towards Yusan, Geld murmured, “I could have got them.” Eddy replied sarcastically, “Yeah, I know.” Geld asked, “Do you got the stone?” Eddy replied, “The stone and gems as well.” Suddenly a knife came and stuck to ground before them. Geld and Eddy stopped and looked ahead; the Abandoned Squad was standing in front of them. “When it comes to spot the prey, no one is as fast as an eagle.” Iba said.

“You guys, I think death has been assigned you from my hands.” Geld shouted vigorously. “Let’s see who dies first.” saying so Alle threw his spear at Geld, Geld dodged it and said. “Do you think it’s that easy to get me.” but suddenly the spear tore his skin apart and emerged out from his belly. The trio looked astonished and surprised, Avan and Iba looked at Alle, Alle acted to be smart and said, “I knew I got him.” “Do you really think so?” Eddy asked as he moved from behind Geld. “He is fast.” Avan exclaimed, “He caught the spear and stabbed it from behind.” Iba told the others. Blood fell from Geld’s mouth on the ground he groaned in pain, “You will pay for this.” Eddy smiled cunningly and stabbed knife again into his body.

Geld fell on ground, death spread its dominance over the slowing fading breaths of Geld and after few moments his struggle came to an end. Eddy looked at the trio it was staring at Geld with open mouth, as soon as they noticed that Eddy was staring them, they took position to battel against him. “Relax, I don’t want to fight.” Eddy said, “Why to trust you?” Iba asked, “You killed your partner.” Alle added. “He was not my partner, I used to hate him. Beside that I had no reason to fight you. I know you are here for gems, you take the gems and let me go.” Avan said, “Well then keep the bag of gems there and leave.” “My spear too.” Alle shouted. Eddy put the gems and spear and left.

Eddy returned to Yusan alone, he went to meet Aski, because no one ever met Vilen directly. Eddy handed the stone to Aski and told her that the Abandoned Squad killed Geld and took the gems that were with him. Aski replied, “He was a great warrior, but sacrifices are must for obtaining powers. We will assign you a new task, you can rest for now.” Eddy moved to his room and laid on his bed, thinking of what happened soon he fell to sleep, a sound sleep.
