“Show up at the courthouse for 9am on Wednesday” Elias told his son as he sat across him in his office
“For?” Eliot asked, his head still buried in work
“Your wedding, wear a suit” his father answered him
“Wednesday?” He asked, staring at his father as if he had just registered what he said
“Yes, I met with your soon-to-be father in law and we agreed on a date” Elias said, looking him right back in the eye
“And you didn’t think to ask me if that worked for me, you decided it was best to drop it on me like a bombshell”
“Forget it, I’ll be there. If it means staying CEO of Everett, I would marry a complete stranger”
“I would do it for mom” Eliot said as he turned his gaze back to the files on his table, almost trying to avoid that thought
Later, Elias stood up and left after they had said their goodbyes
“Where are you going for lunch?” Eliot’s assistant, Noah asked as soon as he walked in, barely an hour after his father left
His head was still buried in the work on his desk, he ignored Noah, hoping he would go away and
“Perfect, I was hoping you hadn’t made any reservations, you’re coming with me” Noah said, walking to Eliot’s side and closing his laptop
Finally, he seemed to have his attention
Eliot ran his hand through his hair, clearly annoyed at Noah and let out a sigh
“I’m not going anywhere with you, I have work” he said, attempting to reopen his laptop
“Yes, you are” Noah said as he closed it again and picked up his keys from the table. He started walking towards the door without saying another word
Noah knew this would get Eliot to stand up because he wouldn’t allow anybody else but himself and his driver touch, talk more of drive his car
Eliot knew he had lost this one so he stood up and put on his suit jacket that was hung on his chair all day
Noah was the only one that could get Eliot to do the things he wanted like this. Eliot hired him as his assistant since they go way back, he was the only friend Eliot had all his life and was more of a brother than an assistant
He made his way downstairs with the elevator and saw Noah seated in the driver’s side of his car
“You’re not driving my car, get out” Eliot said as he made his way to the driver’s side
“Where’s my driver” he asked again
“He’s not coming with us” Noah said as he came down from the driver’s side and walked around the car to the other side
“So you’re driving, get in, let’s go”
Eliot got in and drove out of the office while Noah gave him directions
“Why are we here?” Eliot asked as he entered the parking lot of the biggest men’s clothing store
“Stop asking questions and come with me” Noah said as he opened his door to step out. He started walking towards the entrance when he realized Eliot had not come out of the car. He stopped and signaled with his hands for him to come down and Eliot reluctantly followed him in
“Hello, we’re here for a tuxedo in his size” Noah said the moment he got to the front desk
“Good afternoon Mr Everett” the lady at the front desk said as soon as she turned to see who walked in with Noah.
Of course, she knew Eliot Everett, everyone did.
She ushered them in to the VIP showroom
“What colours are you working with, sir” she asked as she turned to face Noah again
“Blue and black” he said simply and she left to bring the samples they had in store
“What’s this for?” Eliot asked Noah with a tired look on his face
“Your wedding” Noah whispered with a smirk on his face
“Of course, I didn’t expect anything less from my father” Eliot said, clearly uninterested
“I won’t hold it against you that you didn’t tell me you were getting married, I had to hear from the chairman”
“At least he trusts me” Noah said as Eliot picked up his phone from his pocket
“It’s not good news, Noah. It’s a contract and it’ll end soon, trust me” Eliot said
“That’s not what the chairman thinks” Noah responded
The lady came back with a trolley of different suits, Noah picked one for Eliot since he wouldn’t make any effort to. They paid and left to a restaurant for lunch. The whole ride after then was quiet and Noah knew when not to start a conversation
