CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

I nodded my acknowledgment but I was wondering why she was here alone. "Are you set?" She asked as if reading my thoughts. "Set for what?" I asked, a little confused as to what this was about. "To go touring, remember I did promise to give you a tour of the place." She replied excitedly. "Are you sure this is the right time to give me that tour?" I asked, gesturing to the fact that she had to help me up. "Oh don't worry, I can carry you if you have a problem walking." First off it wasn't if, I do have a problem walking and she could carry me? What the heck was she talking about? "What?" I almost screamed. Last I checked I weighed at least fifty-five kilograms. I could barely lift twenty kilograms let alone fifty. Gracie was petite and she didn't look like she could lift anything above ten, saying she could carry me was a pretty gross exaggeration. "You heard me," she returned, smiling very proudly. "Do you want to test it out?" At the question, her voice got that high-pitched sound that made me realize she was pretty excited about this. NO FREAKING WAY. The last thing I wanted to do right now was fall. I didn't even have time to see what was coming or even brace myself. Taking her free hand she swatted a little and placed it around my and lifted me. I screamed as I saw my body leave the ground, it took me a lot of control not to squirm but I knew that would just make my situation worse so I tried to stay as stiff as possible. It was easy, I mean I was dead. I wasn't thrilled even though I was shocked that she had been able to lift me off the ground, I wasn't the least bit excited that it happened. "Hehe, see!" She said effortlessly. I tried to smile but I'm sure it came off creepy, "Yeah but can you drop me down now please?" I asked through gritted teeth. "Sorry," she said as she dropped me slowly. "Got a little carried away. So, see that we shouldn't have any problems?" I wasn't pleased but her pride made it hard not to smile. She looked so happy to be of help, I couldn't help but wonder how old she was. She didn't look too older than I was, we were probably around the same age. I wanted to ask but it didn't seem like the right moment. "I can see that," I chuckled stiffly. I wish I could start walking right this moment, I would give my left ear for that. I sighed. "So, shall we?" She asked, her excitement was oozing out of her and crawling all over me. I tried not to sigh again but I couldn't share her excitement, I wondered if she had spent the entire night staring at the clock. Were we the only girl? Now that I think about it Karen was the only other female I saw. Well, there was still the Seven and Mortuus in charge— I cringed at the name —and nobody said anything about that being everybody. Well, I sort of shared Gracie's enthusiasm. I was glad she was here. "Of course, I just need to clean up first. Can you wait?" Because why the hell not and the faster I got used to the life here the better for me. The relief that appeared on her face was massive, I couldn't help but think of how she would have felt if I had turned her down. "Yeah, of course." She muttered but did not make any move to come further in. "Aren't you going to come in?" I asked even though she still had her hand around me, helping me up. "Yeah, yeah. Would you be able to make it to the bathroom yourself?" I closed the door and she helped me to the bed. "Well, I would have to learn now, wouldn't I?" "Haha, yeah I guess."
