The drive was a very long one, with my head against the window. I had watched houses turn into trees and the night turn into dawn. I had lost track of time so was absolutely surprised when I finally noticed how bright the day was getting.
The journey had been in complete silence, well mostly on my end. Ray and Jay tend to exchange a few words once in a while but I didn't pay any attention to their words. We have been driving for hours now but I didn't want the journey to end.
I watched the sun slowly creep out the edge of a huge mountain. It was beautiful, I didn't think I had ever seen an actual sunrise before then and if I had it must have been a very long time ago. Sunset was quite the contrary.
“We are almost there.” I jerked as Ray's words cut through my appreciation of the scenery.
I looked at Jay through the rearview mirror and saw that he had his eyes on me. I instinctively brushed my hair away from my face wondering how I looked. I refused to look at the mirror afraid that I would be completely terrified and heartbroken at the sight of the person looking back at me.
I tried to brush my hair after the shower but had totally given up my a huge chunk of it got all tangled up, I had known if I went further I was going to lose a lot of hair instead I used my hands to brush it and I tied it in a ponytail, the sticky part was all covered up.
I immediately noticed that the many trees had changed to a plain of flowers. It was so well done I would have sworn they had been trimmed. I looked on in awe, for they stretched as far as my eyes could see on both sides.
“Beautiful right?” I turned at the sound of the voice to see Jay's eyes on me only then did I realize I was upright and no longer resting with my back against the car seat.
“Yeah, very. What are they?”
“Well, I do not know.” Jay continued. There must have been an absurd look on my face for he immediately added, “Don't look at me like that. I've never had a reason to go find out but I do know sunflowers are included and maybe roses, I don't know for sure.
I returned my eyes to the view, it really was beautiful and I rested my head once again in the car headrest. The car seats were covered in fine leather, I wondered what it felt like and I rubbed my palm against it but there was no sensation whatsoever.
I closed my eyes for a few, I couldn't help but notice I wasn't the least bit tired or sleepy even though I had spent a reasonable amount of hours awake during the night. I opened my eyes to see the car make a sharp turn through an untarred road with trees on both sides. The road led to a huge gate in the middle of nowhere.
