CHAPTER 19: A NOSTALGIC CABIN...

ADAM’S POV:

“I'll sign the papers as soon as I get there... Yeah, please cancel tomorrow's meeting with Mr Dominic. Thank you, Miss Crooks.” I hung up the call and we walked out of the elevator. Angel looked at me and smiled.

How can someone look so beautiful and how can I be the one who breathes the beauty of this gorgeous Angel.

“You look really beautiful, Angel.” I placed my hand on the small of her back and escorted her to our Matt black Aston Martin One-77 and opened the door for My Angel. She smiled at my gesture.

“Such a gentleman are we Mr Black?” She whispered as she sat in the car and I helped her with her dress.

“What can I do? I have a stunning girlfriend to impress.” I winked and closed the door before moving to the driver seat.

“I must admit, your girlfriend is a lucky one. I'm almost jealous of her.” I roared the car to life after she and I were buckled up.

“Well, you don't have to be jealous My love. No matter how far we get from each other, I'll always find my way back to ya.” I said and we both broke into a small laugh at our dramatic dialogue delivery. I drove the car out of the building.

“So, why this date all of the sudden?” Angel asked as she adjusts her jacket.

“The thing is, I won't be able to see you until my birthday,” I answered nervously and saw her face getting red slightly.

“Don't tell me it's one of your families decrees. Cause if I hear anymore ‘rules’ of your family, I'm sure I'm gonna have a second thoughts on saying yes to the proposal.” Angel said and I chuckled hearing her words.

“Nope! It's not any rule or something, I just have so much to catch up here. Few files are to be signed before I step up as the CEO.” I explained and heard her sign. We both maintained a comfortable silence in the rest of the drive.

The reaction I got from Angel was reasonable though. We went to meet Dad as soon as we landed in New York. It was all normal and happy, well that was until Flora decided to butt in at the dinner.

After dinner table, when we were having a good time laughing at my embarrassing moments of childhood, Flora suddenly took the conversation in a completely different direction.

She said and I quote, “So you agreed to have a child as soon as you get married? It is nice since the girls of your age generally focus on their career. You never fail to surprise me, Miss Steel.” Sapphire chocked on her bite and drank a full glass of water. Her eyes were red from the situation. I on the other hand was now sure that Angel was right. Flora doesn't like the idea of I and Angel getting married.

At the end of the night, I confessed that there is such a rule but I've already talked about it with dad. I don't think it is important to have kids as soon as you are married. We are not some royalty that everyone will be against us all the time.

But still, I did sleep on the couch as the punishment.

“Where are we going? It has been an hour since you are driving and we are already so far from the city.” Sapphire complains as I glance at her from the side.

“Almost there, Angel.” I smiled as I parked the car at the end of the road.

“This is it? Where are we?” Angel asked, unlocking her seatbelt.

“It’s a surprise...” I said in a sing-song manner and got out of the car. Opening the door for Angel as she steps out of our ride, we came face to face with a bald head and bulky man with tattoos all over his hands and shoulders. He wore a casual tight t-shirt and ripped jeans.

“Woah! Out in this cold weather without any winter clothes? You'll frizz buddy.” I said and the man in front of me smiled.

“Good evening sir, Ma’am.” I heard Angel sign in relief as he addressed us. I guess I forgot to introduce them.

And I guess I'm in big trouble too.

“Antonio...” I said and shook his hand and he moved, standing in front of Angel. She shook his hand too and finally smiled.

“Angel, he is Antonio Charles, my security head and one of my closest friend. And Antonio, She is my beautiful girlfriend.” I said and placed my hand around her waist.

“Finally, I met the beauty I've been hearing so much since this big guy left for London,” Antonio said and winked at Sapphire making her look at him with an awkward smile.

“It is nice to meet you too, Mr Charles.” She said in her usual soft voice.

“Ohh, please call me Antonio, I kinda don't like people calling me like I'm an old man.” Antonio compliments, making Angel chuckled nodding her head.

“Okay then, Antonio it is.” He looked at me nodding, telling me that the preparations are all done according to my instructions. I nodded back and we moved forward on the forest route alone.

“To the forest? Did you read too many novels, Love?” Angel asked poking me from the side. I smirked and swiftly turned my face and bit her finger making her gape.

“You! Leave my finger!” she said as she tried to move my head back by pushing my forehead. I chuckled leaving her finger slowly and pulled her a little closer to me as we came close to our destination.

“You are gonna love this place more than I do. I promise.” I said and laughed quietly as she pouted.

Soon we reached the clearing we both gasped looking at the mesmerising log house.

“This is the wooden house I and Godfather made two years ago, at the same time when we finalised the interior of that home.” I smiled remembering the time.
