SAPPHIRE’S POV:
“This is the wooden house I and Godfather made two years ago, at the same time when we finalised the interior of that home,” Adam said making me realise where are we. The smile on his face gave away the fact that he has memories of this place as fresh as it was just yesterday.
“You mean the house that I live in right now?” I asked just to confirm my assumption. Adam silently nodded and moved forward. I looked around the place and indeed this beautiful construction can only be done by my dad. It wasn't just a cabin.
The clearing had a pathway to the entrance and there were beautiful flowers all around the clearing. Well beautiful but dangerous as they were wildflowers. And even from the size of it. It isn't just a cabin, it is a wooden bungalow. A county style bungalow with a modern touch.
I smiled when I saw the front porch had some space that there can be a few seats to have a good talk. The polished wood looked so good even at the night. We moved to the door and I noticed that the door is not entirely made of wooden. There are square glass pieces in a rectangular form. Transparent yet not see-through until you come too close to it.
“Welcome to my heaven, Angel,” Adam said before opening the door of literal heaven. I gasped as I saw the preparations done for the date and the interior.
It was simple just like Adam and I appreciate it to be. The elegantly designed living room with a fireplace. was not the real thing of course. The furniture was made of wood too and it was no doubt it was specially designed by dad. Cause the Russian coloured covers on the seats were just too easy to recognise from the part of my office.
It wasn't just the fireplace and the furniture that made the place beautiful but also the mild fragrant candles that did the job of cherry on top too.
Just then I realised there was no light in the house. It is all the candles.
“It’s so admirable...” I whispered and heard Adam sign in relief. I turned to him and saw him looking at me with his piercing blue eyes.
“You want to start our date?” He said coming behind me and took off my coat. I saw him going to the entrance and keeping his and my coats on the stand that was near the door. He came back while rolling the sleeves of his shirt up. All this while I was applauding the most beautiful man I've met on this planet.
“I... Yeah... Sure.” I gulped as my thoughts ran tempestuous making me shook my head to get rid of it.
“Angel? What happened? Are you okay? You said okay but you nodded your head negative. Is something bothering you?” Adam shot one question after another, not giving me any chance to speak. Although the concern in his voice and face was so obvious that it almost made me feel guilty for worrying him.
“It’s nothing. I was just thinking about some other stuff.” Adam gave me a look that said ‘you don't know how to lie.’ and I ignored him looking away, trying to hind my blush that creeped out on my cheeks with the unwanted thoughts.
“Okay, but let's go to the living room. We will have to prepare the dinner ourselves.” I looked at him in confusion.
“We have to cook?” I asked and got a nod as an answer as Adam moved to sit on the single chair. I gleamed as I sat on his lap. A too bold move for me if you ask.
“What do you want to have for dinner?” I asked, wrapping my arms around his neck.
“I was thinking, how about us making dinner? We can play a game. You can teach me a few recipes. Sounds good?” Adam answers as he smirks when he saw me blush as he pulled me closer by my side.
“Sounds perfect... And it is already 7 o'clock, we need to start now if we want to have dinner in a decent hour.” I whispered and tried to move out of his hold. Well, keyword- TRIED...
“I think you should take a look around. You just saw the living room, there are many other things you need to see here.” Adam whispers making me look at him. I raised a brow and looked at the bright blue eyes. He just stood up with me being carried by him in bridal style. I gasped and held the collar of his suit for support.
“So, it is decided then. You go to have a good look around and I'll prepare our dinner.” I looked at him smiling and nodded. If it was anyone else, I would've assumed that the person seriously wants to poison me.
Cause that is what I've been experiencing for the last six months. I've never mentioned this to Adam or Mr TRIVEDI or even Lucas but the truth is I've been threatened, poisoned and tried to abduct.
After a month, when everything was going just fine. A letter shows up at my office table with ‘YOURS SINCERELY’ written over its cover. And the thing is, the only person I know who writes in this format is kinda busy in his own life.
That was until I met Luca and he made me think about the nonsense that was written. Everything was written so beautifully and as I solved the equation that was used for the formula, I came to realise that the letter says, ‘save yourself and your lover boy of you can...’.
Honestly, when I read the letter, I thought it was a threat but the PS said a different story, ‘NOT A THREAT’. Was written in bold letters. So, many possibilities strike at a time and I being me chose not to take a chance and take the letter sincerely.
And thank God I did cause otherwise, I and Adam would have been dead a long time ago. And the strange thing is the letter comes just before the day of any possible attacks. It was too hard to ignore the fact that right now, I'm trusting a faceless, nameless person who is just trying to send a message about how sincerely he or she is looking after me.
I shook my head from the thought of it. Every time I think about the attacks, it goes on and on for hours and I had many sleepless nights after the few days of the first strike.
“Angel, you are doing it again.” I heard his voice and looked at him questioningly. He just stared at me for a moment and signed before he sat back down with me on his lap again.
“What are you doing, Adam?” I whispered easily, almost tearing up as all the possible outcomes can rushing to my mind.
“You are doing this continuously. You are scared of something and you are hiding it from me. Is it about business then you can keep it that way but if it is about anything else, like anything, you can tell me?” I whimpered lightly but due to the silence around us, I think Adam heard it. Cause he looked at me with so much concern that it almost made me talk things out with him.
“It is, it is about business, love. Mrs Pablo called, it seems that few clients are having problems with some documentation.” I smiled at him, as natural I could. I know he didn't believe the sh*t I told him. Cause that’s what is written all over his handsome face.
“Okay, let's keep it that way then. But you and I both know that you should have come up with a better excuse than that one. Cause you know that I know that you don't do such mistakes.” He made the atmosphere light giving me a silly pout, making me chuckle.
We both stood up and Adam kissed my forehead before he left for the kitchen to prepare food for our date. I smiled, thinking as much as positive I can. Taking my heels off, I signed in relief.
Keeping the heels at the entrance, I walked through the living room to the stairs. The stair walls were filled with photographs. I moved slowly to see the pictures on the wall.
There were pictures of Adam and Uncle Ethan. Pictures of Adam with Dad. Their family pictures. But what caught my attention was the portraits of me and Aunt Amy. Mine looked like it was just made cause I could smell a little bit of colour. On the other hand, Aunt Amy’s was an old one. I smiled moving to the door.
As soon as I opened the room, I felt like I just entered the Heaven Doors. The room was filled with the books dad and I used to read together. Every book we loved was there.
I took Dad’s favourite in my hands and flipped the pages until I stopped at the page I was looking for. I ram my hand through the quote.
‘Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise’ from Les Misérables, written by Victor Hugo. Dad read this book a hundred times, just to read this quote. Every time, when there was no way out of any problem, he would stare at this sentence for hours. And now I know, why...
The last time I saw him with this book was a week before his death. I shook my head as soon as the thought crossed my mind. Keeping the book in its original place, I ran my hand through the rakes. Looking from one book to another, smiling when I saw he has a twilight saga set. It wasn't either of us’s favourite. It was the first book I read like a novel.
Well, let's say it was a prank from the prank master Abel himself. After a while, I left the room and moved to the other doors.
The first one was a game room with a pure Bachelor pad interior. There was a pool table in the left corner and bean bags in front of the game box. Not my cup of tea if you ask but it was attractive regardless. I was about to leave when Adam’s voice stopped me.
“Mind having a game with me, Angel?” I looked at my back and smirked.
“Sure Mr Black, I would love to.” Adam smiled as he took my hand and we moved to the pool table. Taking the cue stick he took the triangle out and offered me to open it.
We laughed, teased and frown at each other, without any knowledge of time.
At the end of the third game, we deliberately tried to create a heated environment, yet ended up having a heated talk.
“You’ll tell me if you are in any trouble right?” Adam pulled me closer as we sat on the floor by the pool table.
“Of course I will. Why would you ask that?” I looked up at him and my smile vanished from the look on his face. I sat up and faced him.
“What happened? Why did you ask this question now?” I took his hand in mine and gently moved my fingers over his to reduce the tension. I smiled when he let out a sign but the smile vanished as soon as it came after hearing his next words.
“Why wouldn't you tell me about the attacks and the secret warnings by this ‘YOURS SINCERELY’ guy?”
