CHAPTER 25: THE CEO...

SAPPHIRE’S POV:

(After Five Days)

I smile in satisfaction as I looked at my reflection in the mirror. Yup, it is already 27th August. Adam’s birthday and the day he is going to step up as the leader of Black In. And Co.

I was wearing the latest couture dress by Michael Cinco. It is a Royal blue strapless Sweetheart neck dress, flowing straight to the floor. The sparkles in the dress and it's multiple layers made it look even more beautiful and eye-catching.

My hair was curled and I made double waterfall braids and let out a few gangs on my face. My face had a minimal amount of makeup but I did a Black-winged liner and gave my eyes a perfect smoky look with a matching blue colour. And my lipstick was nude coloured.

All in all, this is the maximum amount of Makeup I've put on until today. I don't know if it is too much or not but it feels like it. Maybe because I've never done so much makeup before. I heard a knock on my closet door and gave myself a final look before opening the door.

“Miss Steel, Mr Black came with a gift for you.” I smile and took the maroon velvet box with a smile.

“Thank you, Mrs Paul. Is Adam here already?” I asked nervously.

“Yes, he is. But he told me to inform you that you don't have to hurry. He is an early cause he wanted to give you this gift himself.” I smiled and nodded.

“Okay, tell him I'll be joining him in a short while.” Mrs Paul nodded and went out of my room and I closed the door of my closet door. Keeping the velvet box on the table, which was in the middle of the closet, I opened the box.

“God! It's the most beautiful necklace I've ever seen...” I ran my hand through a beautiful piece of art. It is no doubt that this is nothing else but The Kashmir Peacock Necklace. The necklace with 21 Kashmir Sapphires. I can't believe he just gifted me the most expensive necklace in the world, literally.

I heard that there was a world auction for this necklace just two months ago. Now that I connect the dots, Adam personally asked Michael Cinco to design me a beautiful dress for the occasion and he did go out of London for a business trip with dad, that was two months ago. And last but not least, this guy spent almost 15 million dollars as I know for sure that it was sold out for 14.9 million.

Besides the necklace, there was a pair of beautiful Sapphire studs. And if I'm not wrong, they are Kashmir Sapphires too.

I closed the box and went to take Ralph and Russo’s Royal blue pumps. I left the room after taking my phone and card into my pocket. I also took the necklace box with me and the gift I made for Adam.

As I walked down the stairs, I saw The man in a dark grey tuxedo with a royal blue now tie which matched my dress. He smiled as he saw me. But his smile vanished as he saw my neck was empty and I was carrying the velvet box in my hand.

He looked at me like he has been caught red-handed while stealing my chocolates. He kept looking at me even when I waved my hand in front of his face.

“Adam? What happened? Are you okay?” I was about to step forward but he nodded his head.

“I was just admiring the beautiful angel by my side.” He kissed my forehead lightly before looking at the box in my hand but didn't speak anything.

“You look handsome yourself, love. Many many happy returns of the day, Adam. Wish you happiness and health in your life.” I stepped closer and planted a light kiss on his lips before moving back.

“Why you didn't wear my gift? You don't like it?” He took my hand in his as we sat on the sofa of the living room.

“It is more than beautiful, Adam. And I just wished that since you've made so many efforts to buy it, it would make me happy if you'll be the one helping me wear it.” I saw his lips tugged up in a small smile as he took the box out of hand.

“I would love to.” He placed the box on the table after taking the necklace in his hand and we stood up. I turned around with a smile on my face and felt Adam’s fingertips touch my skin as he moved my hair to the front.

After making me wear the necklace he placed my hair back over my shoulders and took the Sapphire Studs. He softly made me wear them and told me to patch them up as per my liking. I did the same and looked up to see Adam looking at me as he always does. With respect.

“You look so beautiful, Sapphire.” I didn't get any chance to react, his lips were placed over mine. I smile when I felt him do the same. I don't know what is it with us or it is normal but every time we kiss, we smile at it without any intention. It's like our lips force us to do so. I'm not complaining though.

“We need to leave. It's almost 6:30 P. M. We have to get there before seven o'clock.” He took my hand in his and was about to turn around but I pulled him back.

“Oh, Handsome! Wait I have a birthday present for you.” I smiled and took out a small velvet box from my dres' pocket. Adam looked at the box with suspicion which made me chuckle at his weird face that he made.

“What is that face?” He quickly composed himself and adjusted his tuxedo as he cleared his throat. A light blush that formed on his cheeks made it obvious that he thought I was proposing to him. I shook my head and opened the box.

“It is just what I needed to complete my look.” He took the Sapphire brooch out of the box. It was made of three velvety blue Sapphire stones, one teardrop-shaped and the other one was in an Emerald shape. The pin and the last Sapphire was at the end of the pin, which was round-shaped. It had a platinum crowned design which made look extraordinary.

“Now, since you designed this art by yourself, why don't you help me put it on.” We chuckled as he used my words. I nodded and took the pin and clasped it over his suit’s collar.

“There, now we are good to go.” I smile and he offered me his hand. We walked out of the building, only to the sea of paparazzi around the Limo that was here to pick us up.

We ignored the flashing lights and questions as we went to our car and sat in the car as Adam held the door for me. Tony and Mr Smith were too busy with the media and the other members of the security helped them. Even Mr Paul was trying to get the cameras away from Adam’s face while he helped me with my dress.

He moved around the Limo and sat beside me. The flashes continued till we were out of my building. We sat in comfortable silence as always but today there was something else with the silence. I looked at Adam and found him scratching his eyebrows. Something he does when he is tense and worried.

I scooted closer to him and took his hand in my, tangling our fingers together.

“You are ready for this I know it. Everything will turn out just fine.” He nodded his head and leaned back on the seat, closing his eyes. I was worried too. Not for the office, I know Adam has the calibre to do his work much more than efficient. But last five days, I saw him work without getting enough sleep.

Last night I wanted to give him a surprise party on his birthday by inviting his close friends and family members to mine. But when I was setting the dinner for us I saw him having difficulty even keeping his eyes open. I just decided that my first gift on his birthday would be a proper six hours sleep and After dinner, we went straight to bed leaving the kitchen and dishes in the dishwasher.

It is our unspoken thing, we do not share a thing from our work life but in the house, we live as a normal couple would. Helping to do some of each other's work, trying to impress each other by making new dishes. Well, at least we try making it.

So, we slept like babies yesterday and in the morning, Adam and I made our breakfast together. But you see, I said that he is a very busy man. His friends decided that it was the perfect time to visit him. They came like a tornado and made Adam rush with his breakfast before they took him for his birthday party organised by them.

I stayed back to help Uncle Ethan at the venue. The whole day flew by and it was already 5:30 when I got back home from the venue. And y'all know the rest. And no, I didn't get enough time to wish him a proper happy birthday.

Well, I did wished him in the bed but the cake I made for him last night is still in the fridge, untouched.

“Why didn't you wake me up last night when you made such a delicious looking cake with my name on it?” Adam whispered in my eyes as he came close to me and warped his left arm around my waist, pulling me closer.

“You needed much sleep then the celebration. I decided to surprise you in the morning but...” I trailed off and rested my head on Adam’s shoulder.

“I could've denied my friends if I knew you had something planned.” He sounded so sincere that it made me feel awful that I didn't even wish him a proper Birthday surprise.

“Okay, come on a date with me later tonight.” I turned towards him and made him look at me as he was pouting at the window.

“We won't be able to leave the party till the guests are gone.” He signed, making me think if he THE CEO of one of the world's leading corporations. He can be a child sometimes.

“Consider it as an after-party. I've planned it for a while now... Puuuesshhh?..” I blinked my eyes rapidly giving him a puppy look as he chuckled. He does that every time I make a puppy face. According to him, I don't know how to make a puppy face but I do pull off puppy eyes well.

“Fine! God no offence but you...” I cut him off in the middle.

“Don’t know how to pull on the puppy face but do pull off the puppy dog eyes well? I know, I know. My boyfriend loves to repeat that sentence. He loves to see my poker face.” I winked at him and we talked about normal stuff till we reached the venue.

The flashes went off crazy and we looked at each other for one final time before Adam stepped out of the car. He showed his hand to the valet who came to open my door and came to do it himself.

I took his hand in mine and we walked through the red carpet. The media asked us questions that weren't even heard due to the noise and music that played in the background.

We walked through the entrance and to the ballroom. As soon as the huge ballroom doors opened and the announcement was heard.

“Please Welcome, The new CEO of Black Industries and Corporation. ADAM BLACK. Joined by, The Future CEO of Steel Industries and Corporation. SAPPHIRE STEEL.”
