Chapter1
Charlotte's pov
"Mr Norman is asking for you?" I stopped what I was doing and turned to the person speaking. "Mr Norman?" I tried thinking of which Mr. Norman is. I nodded my head stiffly and walked out to check who it was.
I scanned my eyes through the customers and my eyes met a familiar one. I frowned and went to him. "Old man, you missed me again?" he looked at me in amusement and nodded.
"Can't spend a day without taking your coffee and pastries," he said and smiled at me. "I am afraid you will get diabetes one day," he frowned. "I am still healthy, child"
I smiled. Yes, he is. With his gray hair nearly done on his head, his brown eyes, and the face of a heartbreaker, he looks in his forties.
"Let me get you your regular". I went inside immediately to get it for him. After that, I did my rounds before joining him at his table.
"You stress yourself too much," he said, frowning. "Not again old man, I don't want to talk about it."
He didn't look like he was going to drop it but he sighed. I know I have been hurting his feelings by rejecting his offer every time, but I have my reasons. I held his hands. "I am good. If I need anything I will let you know", I promised him.
I knew I wasn't going to ever tell him my problem, but that was the little I could do to assure him. He looked worried still. "Is anything wrong? You know you can tell me anything" he raised his head and I could see the tiredness in his eyes. "I am worried about my grandson."
What did that spoiled brat of a grandson do again? "He is not listening to me, he refuses to let go of the past" My heart squeezed for him. I met Andrew the day he came to buy coffee from this shop. With our huge difference in status, I happened to win my way into his heart.
He is heartless in business, but he is always smiling and kind to me. His grandson has always made him worry. If I ever saw his son, I would break his two legs.
"Your grandson needs to be taught a lesson. Just give me his address and I will deal with him for stressing you" I tried to lighten his mood, and it worked when he smiled and ruffled my hair.
"I know you love your grandson so much, and you are a great grandfather. Just don't worry too much, he will come around" he smiled at me "If you were not someone's child, I would have taken you as mine"
"What is stopping you?" I smirked, and he had a smile on his face. That was what was missing. His smile. I didn't say it to him, but I take him as my father. "Promise me you will take care of yourself". I held out my pinky finger.
"Is that not childish?" I glared at him, and he put a pinky finger in mine. Every time he comes around, we stay at the far end of the shop. We often speak loudly, and it causes stares from people.
It isn't very often you find a billionaire that way.
I got home and saw a note on the door. I opened the door carefully so as not to make noise, but I got caught.
"Sneaking in as always?" I jumped and hit my head on the door. I groaned and turned to him.
I wore a sweet smile on my face. "How are you Tuke?"
"Where is my money?" He asked with a very scary look on his face. Can't he remove the scowl on his face?
"That is just what I am about to tell you, I need you to give me a little more time," I asked him.
"You have been avoiding it for the past 4 months because of the rent, but I can't take it today. You have just 2 weeks left to leave, or I will pack your things out."
"Tuke, I just need some time" I trailed off as he walked out on me. Why did he have to see me today? I banged the door hard after going inside.
I fixed myself something light, not like there was anything to eat in the house, and slept off immediately.
It has been 3 days since Tuke came to see me and I don't have where to get the money to pay. I was done with my rounds and was thinking of getting another job when Josh came in. "What business do you have with the rich old man?" I rolled my eyes at his lane joke.
"Josh please I don't have time for this'' I took my bag and got ready to leave when he blocked my way. "Mr Norman is here to see you"
"Mr Norman?" I was confused. "Andrew?" I asked. People refer to him as Andrew because he comes here daily, so I was confused why he was calling him that.
"Really? I haven't seen him for three days now". I was worried about him. He comes here daily, either during his lunch break or after work. I didn't have his number, so I couldn't call him. He comes every day to buy coffee, so he's not coming for the past 3 days. "The young Mr. Norman, Charlotte"
Why would Mr. Norman be here to see me? I had never seen him before, so I didn't know why he was there. I moved outside and saw a man wearing a suit sitting at the far corner of the shop. He was the only odd one out as his appearance stood out. "Mr Norman" I called when I got there. "You can have your seat" he said, and I frowned but sat down.
He kept pressing on his phone while I sat looking at him. "You called me, and you are pressing on your phone" I clearly stated, angry at his rude behavior. He raised his head and met my gaze.
My breath got cut in my throat as my eyes locked onto his chiseled features. He looked exactly like his grandfather, but even more captivating, more handsome.
His black hair was nearly styled to the side, revealing his striking blue eyes that seemed to pierce through my soul. His jawline was so sharp it could cut glass, and his lips... oh, his lips were screaming 'kiss me, baby'.
I swallowed hard at that thought, my heart racing with a mix of excitement and nervousness. My palms grew sweaty, and I felt a flutter in my chest as I struggled to maintain my composure.
I couldn't help but stare, my eyes fixed on his every feature, drinking in the sight of him."
"If you can stop staring at me like a creep, I will continue to tell you why I am here" I blinked and lowered my eyes.
Bad manners Charlotte. Why would you stare at him like that? He would think so wrongly of me now.
"Wait, how do you know I am Charlotte?"
He looked at me with a blank look. "You came to me meaning you are Charlotte." smart ass, I thought to myself.
"So why are you here?" I saw his eyes blink at my question before speaking.
"I came to take you with me."
