"This is bullshit," I grumbled as I walked a few paces behind him. The sun set behind a horizon of the thick forest; I could barley see the sunlight filter through the trees and reach the two of us. It was as though it had been dark for hours now, only now the sky was beginning to catch up.

"You heard me?" I asked, because I liked vexing him. I was irritated as all Hell, and I could only wish he'd experience a fraction of that. So far, nothing was working. His jaw ticked as it locked, but his face never wavered from it's expressionless mask. He stared forward, into the ominous woods, seeming to know the layout of the area like he was born and raised here. "This is such bullshit."

"Shut up." He finally remarked; an airy groan, I almost didn't hear it.

I stopped walking and set my hands on my hips. "Excuse me?"

He stopped walking too, though it obviously wasn't for the same reason as me. He looked up towards the finger-like branches, and took a deep inhale. His broad chest extended forward as he eyes closed, brows pulled together with a crease as he concentrated on...

On what? What the hell was he doing? I sniffed twice, could find anything other then average aroma of being outside. Dewey grass from a previous rainfall, the musty scent of nature. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, why was he acting like a Bloodhound finding a trail?

And then his eyes opened, and with a gentle tilt of his head he looked at me.

"They're here," he said, "please don't make me look stupid."
