Stupid Deals.

I saw Kyree walking towards us. “You dropped your lipstick outside.” “Who is this?” “My name is Kyree. I gave her a ride here and as she was walking in she dropped her lipstick.” “Thanks, now can you please go?” Jordan turned to me. “So you’re cheating on me now?” “What? No! How could you say that?” “Well I don’t know-” “Look dude, she’s not my type. She’s also too young for my taste, I like older women. She wanted a ride back to school so I gave her one because she was about to knock my friend out so I stepped in and brought her here. I have no interest in her at all.” “I don’t believe you.” “Whatever bro, I’ll see you tomorrow Sophia.” Kyree left and I turned to Jordan. “What has gotten into you lately?” “What the hell-” “Jordan, talk to me.” “You’ve been really secretive lately.” “Because there are some things about my past and who I am that you wouldn’t understand. There is a lot about me that is changing right now because I want a life with you and this baby. So yes, I have to keep some things a secret for right now but when it is all over, I will tell you everything but you have to trust me.” “It’s me. You can tell me anything and I will always be here. Always.” “I know baby. But this is something you wouldn’t understand.” “Then help me understand!” He slammed his fist against the locker and I didn’t even flinch.  “You are angry and I get that, but you wont understand. I had to do some things to stay alive in the streets.” “I thought your brothers cared for you.” “We took care of each other. And a lot of other people.” “Sophia, what are you talking about?” “I’ll tell you later.” I shut my locker, gave him a kiss, and rushed to my class. The rest of the day felt like it was going so slowly. I was walking to my last class when I heard commotion in the central hallway. I ran to see what was happening and I saw Jordan getting in a fight with Ollie. I got in the middle of the two of them and pushed Jordan away from Ollie. “You son of a-” “Ollie, if I were you I’d shut up!” “Oh look, Sophia is here. Why don’t you tell her why we are fighting?” “What is he talking about?” Jordan glared at Ollie. “I made a deal with Val.” I stared at him. “What deal?” He looked away so I pulled his face so he was looking at me again. “What deal Jordan?” “Serina leaves and you keep your life.” “If?” “If I join their gang.” I slapped the taste out of his mouth. I shoved him off of me and walked away. I pulled my phone out and called Camilia. “Hey Sophia-” “Give me your father's phone number. Now.” “He’s with me right now.” “Give him the phone.” It was silent for a moment. “Sophia what a-” “Cut the bullshit now. The deal between you and Jordan is off. Serina is going to Mexico to stay with family while getting medical help and Jordan is staying out of your gang. This isn’t his lifestyle.” “But it surely is yours, Ange de la Mort.” I stopped dead in my tracks. “How’d you figure it out.” “It was easy. I already knew who you were as soon as I saw you at the hospital.” “So you know what I am capable of.” “Yes, and it interests me.” “How so?” “Well you’d never expect a seventeen year old girl to be the Angel of Death in the hood.” “True, but that also means you know my record. What I did to Serina, is nothing. All of those men, nothing. I didn’t even choose my name, did you know that?” “I didn’t.” “Yeah, the people on the streets started calling me that. The Angel of Death. You wanna know why?” “Hmm?” “Because I always have a reason. I protect those that cannot protect themselves. That’s why I didn’t take it all out on Serina. Because I knew something was wrong with her and I was right. So you get that girl help, and leave me and my family the hell alone.” “Fine, but only if you do something for me.” “What?” “Get rid of Ollie.” “Kill him or get rid of him?” “Either.” “Why?” “This whole mess started when they got together. I think he put her up to shooting you.” “That is valid. How long do I have?” “A week. The day she gets out of the hospital, is the last day you have.” “You have a deal.” I hung up and called Cam. “What’s up?” “Send someone to get me.” “Why?” “No questions.” “Okay, we are on our way.” “Back of the school.” “Okay.” I hung up and kept walking to my seventh hour. Jordan ran up behind me. “Sophia!” “Stay the hell away from me! I have to clean up your mess now because you didn’t think I had the whole situation handled!” “I’m sorry, okay?” “And you thought I was the one keeping secrets!” I stormed away from him and walked into class. I sat in the back of the room and plugged my headphones in. Jordan walked in shortly after me and saw that I wasn’t sitting in my seat so he looked for me. As soon as he saw me he walked up to me so I took a headphone out. “It’s not that I thought you didn’t have it under control, I just didn’t want to involve you anymore than you had to be.” “I already had it taken care of. And now I have to deal with your mess and get you out of this before it’s too late. I’ll be home before dinner.” I plugged my headphone back in and ignored him. He walked to his seat and got to work but I saw him look at me every thirty seconds. I left before the bell rang and went to my locker and changed my jacket. I saw Jordan with a few of his friends so I handed it back to him. “I’ll see you later. I have business to deal with.” “Can you-” “Don’t piss me off more than I already am.” “Can I at least get a kiss?” I pulled his face closer to mine and gave him a kiss. When I tried to pull away he pulled me back into it. I caught my breath and walked outside. I heard the roar of bikes so I knew they were here. Jordan and his friends walked outside to see what was happening and when they saw what was happening, they didn’t know what to do. Kyree and Cam pulled up first. “Hop on.” I got on the back of Cam’s bike and looked at Jordan one last time. Cam took off and we went back to the bar where I ran to our boss. “Jordan made a dumb deal with Val Vargas stating that if he joins their gang Serina goes to Mexico and my life is still mine. In order to get him out of this I need to get rid of her boyfriend Ollie.” “Why are you bringing this to me?” “I want your permission to do this.” “To do what? Save yourself, your baby, and your boyfriend? Do it.” “Thank you. Can I take a few people with me?” “Who?” “Kyree, Cam, and Frankie.” “Why them?” “My friend, my brother, and the clean up guy.” “Take them.” I turned around and nodded at Frankie. He got on his bike and went over to Cam and Kyree.  “Where to?” “Follow me and Cam. Frankie, do you still have your clean up kit?” “Back of my bike.” “Good. Kyree, you watch the door and Cam you help me get rid of him then when we are done Frankie you clean up and dispose of the body.” “Yes ma’am. Can you make it less messy this time?” “Fine. I won’t make a mess.” “Thank you.” “Let’s go.” I got on Cam’s bike and we went to Ollie’s house. As soon as we got there he was walking out. “What are you doing here?” “Get inside.” “No.” I pulled out my gun and kept it at my side. “Now.” “Okay, okay.” We walked inside and he sat at the table. “Did you put Serina up to killing me?” “What? No!” “That’s not what I think. I think you gave her the idea to take me out so you two can have the school.” “That’s not what I told her. I told her that she should make threats and get her family to scare you, not kill you. If I knew that she was going to do that I would have tried to stop her, okay? I never wanted this to happen.” “Well now I have to get rid of you because her father wants you dead.” He looked at me. “You are what?” “I have to kill you in order to save my life, my babies life, and Jordan’s life because he made that deal with her father. So now I have to get him out of this.” “I understand. Just don’t hurt my mother.” “I won't. She will get paid a lot of money to go live somewhere else and make a new life.” “Thank you.” “Now, we have to make it look like you moved. I’m going to take your phone and post that you are moving and don’t ask where or anything then destroy your phone. Then you will be disposed of and your mother will be taken care of.” He nodded his head. “I’m sorry for everything.” “I know.” I c****d back my gun and went to shoot him when I felt Cam’s hand on my arm. “Wait, he said get rid of him or kill him. Why don’t we send him and his mom across the country and pay for them to live there?” I looked at Ollie. “Do you want to do that instead?” “Yes. I promise I will never come back here or contact anyone from here ever again.” I took a breath. “Okay, start packing and call your mom. I have to make a few calls.” I walked away and called Val. “So soon?” “He’s leaving today.” “Leaving or dying?” “Leaving. I’m not taking his life and he made a deal.” “Okay. Jordan no longer has to join my gang and Serina is still going to Mexico. Looks like everything is going to work out.” “Seems like it.” I hung up and walked up to Frankie and Kyree. “Check and see how much progress Geo has made on leaving. If it looks like he’s not gone yet, kill him and destroy everything. And if you want, have fun with him.” Frankie smiled at me. “I can kill him?” “Full permission but only if it doesn’t look like he’s going to leave. If his people aren’t moving their stuff into their cars and packing up, confront him. I’ll be behind you two with Cam shortly.” They nodded and left. I went back to Ollie and Cam but Ollie was on his phone. He was talking to his mom and Cam was watching his every move. “Smart thinking Cam.” “Thanks. He doesn’t deserve to be involved in this mess.” “I know. He’s not cut out for this life.” “But you are.” “Cam.” “All i’m saying is that you are good at what you do. You should stay.” “I want to live a happy life without all of this.” “I know sis.” Ollie turned around. “How much money?” “Half a million.” His eyes got huge. “She said half of a million dollars mom.” He listened to his mom talk for a few more seconds. “She’s on her way.” “Okay.” We waited for a little while longer. “So what got you involved in this Sophia?” “Why?” “I mean, I just never expected this from you.” “When we were younger, Micheal got mixed in with some really bad people. So Cam and I turned to the smaller gangs in the hood for help. One of them said that they will save him but only if we join their gang. So we agreed.” I looked at Cam. “We both became assassins for hire for others but mainly for our own gang. Eventually I was given the nickname Ange de la Mort which means Angel of Death. I protected people that couldn’t protect themselves by killing people.” Ollie sat up straight. “That’s why you are such a good fighter.” “Yep. But I am retiring after I take care of you and someone else.” “Who?” “Don’t worry about it. The less you know the better.” We heard a car door and his mom rush into the room. “Are you okay?” “Yeah I’m fine mom. Just listen to her, okay?” I stood up. “Sophia.” “Amy.” “There are some people looking for your son because of his girlfriend, Serina. I am here to get you two out of here and safe while you both live your lives. We will cover all of the expenses but you two have to leave by the end of the day.” She looked at me shocked. “Ma’am, I know how confused you must be but believe me, you and your son do not want the other option. I will send people here to take the two of you to your new home and help you move but I have a lot of stuff to do today so I need you to answer me.” “Yes, sorry. I was processing everything. Ollie start packing, now.” “Thank you.” “No, thank you. We could be dead right now but you are saving our lives and providing for us.” “It’s the least I could do. We have to go now but I’m going to send people to help. Only let them in if they say they work for Ange de la Mort.” “Okay.” Cam and I left and went to Geo’s bar. We saw Frankie and Kyree sitting on their bikes waiting for us. “What’s up?” “They wont let us in.” “I’ll get us in. Follow me.” I walked up to the bouncer and just looked at him. “Come on in, Ange de la Mort.” “Thank you.” We walked inside and saw that they were taking everything down and Geo’s little play thing was sitting at the bar. I walked up and sat next to her. “Can I have a water please?” She looked at me and chuckled. “You’re ordering water at a bar?” “I’m a business woman that has a lot to do. Don’t have time to get drunk and have a hangover.” “Makes sense to me.” I laughed. “Look, I'm sorry about earlier. I was mad at my boyfriend because he’s always keeping secrets from me.” “I know the feeling. Mine is doing the same thing and then I have to clean up after him.” “I feel bad for you.” “Why’s that?” “You are a woman with power. Not a lot of men like taking orders from women.” “Ahh, you don’t know who I am.” “No, I don’t.” “Sophia Jones, or known on the streets, Ange de la Mort.” She stopped moving and her face went blank. “The Ange de la Mort?” “The one and only.” “No wonder why Geo was so terrified when he heard you were here.” “And why he’s leaving today.” She nodded. “Yeah. We have to move, again.” “Sorry for your luck. If I were you, I’d leave him like I did. You’re too good for him girlie.” She shook her head. “I love him.” “I did too. But he’s going to start controlling you and abusing you. Get out now while you can.” She stared at me and didn’t know what to say. “I will, thank you.” “I’m just a girl supporting another girl before she makes the same mistake. Speaking of Geo, where is he?” “His office.” “Thank you.” I got up and walked to the office. Cam, Kyree, and Frankie followed behind me closely. “Geo! Glad I caught you.” “Can I help you?” “How is it coming along? Any closer to leaving?” “We will be gone in a few hours.” “Good. Then you won't be mine or my boss's problem anymore.” “You know, you say he’s your boss but it’s really you that’s in control of everything.” “True, true. But he’s still my boss.” “But what if you could change that?” “Geo, I am retiring soon.” “What are you talking about?” “Once you leave, i’m retiring from this life but if I need to come back and beat your ass or kill you, I will. Or one of these three will kill you along with the rest of my older brothers.” “Okay, okay. But why?” “I want to live my life with my boyfriend. We want a future and kids and I want to live long enough to see them grow up.” “Sounds fair to me.” “Yeah.” “Well, we will be gone by the end of the day. Feel free to come check on everything whenever you feel like it.” “Alright.” We left and went to my apartment. Jordan was sitting there in the living room with Kyle and Brandon. They stood up as soon as we walked in. “Why are they here?”
