SAVING MY MARRIAGE CHAPTER 1
Chapter 1 (My Dreams) The cool breeze swept in my room, I wished I could stay on my bed forever. But No! It was dawn already I struggled to let go of my duvet and at the same time I can't resist the warmth am getting from my bed. Poor bed! I was still struggling to get up when my phone beeped. "Oh! ooo" I groaned, my eye still heavy with sleep "Hummmm mmmmmmmm hmmmmmm" my phone rang, I sluggishly picked my phone. 'Hello' I mumbled "Babe wxup, how are you?" The voice was so sharp that I had to check who the caller was. Oh! It was Esther "I'm good, wxup with you" I replied yawning. "’Don't tell me you're still asleep at this time of day!’ she shouted into the phone. 'Hey, calm down, babe,' I retorted, trying to soothe her. 'Anyway, guess what?' Her voice was animated, filled with happiness. 'What?' I responded wearily "Check your DM babe, check!" she shouted before hanging up I rolled my eyes as I slowly sat up in bed. Esther is one of my crazy friend, We met during my service at PH, I never knew we would still be communicating till this very day because everyone knows her as a lousy person. She's a sweetheart although I was 8yrs older but as the saying goes "Age is just a number" I opened my message and I Screamed "What! propose, oh! my goodness" I screamed at the top of my voice I heard a knock on my door "Come in" I said "Oh! Mum, good morning ma" I greeted my mum She ran towards me and threw herself on my bed with a smile on her face. "Propose! Sandra my love don't tell me someone propose to you and you were trying to hide it from me" She said smiling 'Mtcheeeewwww' I hissed angrily. "Thank you Jesus, the God that never fail I say thank you,What God cannot do does not exist,my God is never too late" she said while rolling herself on my bed. 'Mum!' I cut her off and she stared at me. "Mum why are you being so dramatic" I asked her "Dramatic? Me?" She asked placing her hand on her chest. " Common my beautiful princess the lord is soooo good" she continued. 'Mum!' I yelled at her I moved closer, showing her the picture of Esther and Femi on my phone. She let out a small gasp, her eyes widened in shock. Femi proposed to Esther and they are both getting married in few weeks. "Not again" my mum sounded angrily Mtcheeew I don't care, even if she slam her head to the wall I really don't give a F. My feelings towards my mum were beyond dislike. If I’m being honest, I wished she wasn’t my mother at all. She had caused me endless pain, always reminding me of my failures and misfortunes.” Am I the only single lady in 30's? "I married at the age of 23" she shouted and slammed the door behind her. My name is Sandra, I graduated with distinction in accounting from the University of Lagos, am in my mid 30's. When I was 18, I had always dream of getting married at the age of 23_25 but here I am, still single at 35. I had cried over it and promised not to stress myself over it again. Can you please tell this pastor's wife to stop pissing me off? Yes! My dad is a pastor and I am the only child of my parents. "Oh! I need to call Esther" I snapped out of my thoughts. "Hi! babe congratulations,am so happy for you" I said happily. "What took you so long" she asked "My mum... no my pho..ne.. oh am sorry babe" I stammered "Are you okay?" She asked "Yes babe, you know what,am running late for work I promise to come see you after work, I love you, bye...." I hung up without waiting for her reply. It was past 8 AM, and I was already running behind schedule. My colleagues jokingly called me ‘the latecomer,’ a nickname that only served as a reminder of my perpetual tardiness.” "Was I destined to be late?" My eyes became wet as I looked upward. I don't know if I should be happy with the news I heard or sad. I hurried to the bathroom and prepare myself for work.
