“What a lovely day, a good day to go hiking, the weather is so nice today, I wish I did not have to go to work this morning” Dave Said as he reached for the window blinds and opened it wide, allowing the sunshine to flood in. Amy who was already up, slapped him hard across his side and shouted “You want to laze around all day at the detriment of the home and abandon the Canteen” Dave exclaimed “Honey!!! Can you not go a day without being violent? I was only saying, it is not like I am allowed to take a day off” He grumbled and went out to prepare for the day. Carloss’ Point of View My Phone rang and I picked it without checking the caller ID. “Hello” I spoke and identified the voice as soon as I Heard it “Hi Carlos, Where are you?” My boss Daniel Spoke into the phone in an hushed voice. “I Really can not talk right now Daniel” I replied hurriedly. “Where the heck are you? The Awards Ceremony is starting soon Oh No! I though in Alarm, I had totally forgotten about it. “I will be Right there, and if I don’t make it in time, you can just take it on my behalf” I replied to assure him and ended the call. I was visiting a memorial home with the hope that I could redesign and restructure it to a better piece in order to make it a more memorable place, because I felt we neglect the dead too much. As I made my way to the venue of the awards ceremony, I thought about the numerous awards I have won as an Architect and a Volunteer in the built environment and just smiled. I entered into the hall and saw it was crowded with big men and women, I recognised a few but chose not to exchange pleasantries. I scanned the room for Daniel and May who were waiting for me, I had moved forward a bit when I heard my name coming from the loud speaker, ” Next we will announce the winner of the creative Award, The Creative Award Magazine of 2022 goes to Architect and Ceo of Carlos’ and Co, Mr. Carlos”. “what? I have not been Called yet? s**t!” I thought within me. I made my way to the podium in my best poise as I heard camera click. I met Daniel on my way and I heard him say, “Oh finally, Look who is here, the star got here just in time’ and May replied “with a face like that, he had to be a star. “Why did Daniel have to come along with her though” I grimaced within me. I accepted my award and was leaving when I heard the presenter say “Lets’ hear Mr s’ Acceptance speech” Leaving me on stage. This guy has got to be kidding me. I got close to the microphone, unsure of what to say and said “Thank You” then I Left. May was all over me as soon as I got down from the podium, “Hey! I told you to prepare an acceptance speech right” “Yeah” I Replied “So what was that? She asked in annoyance and I was mute. Daniel engulfed me in a bear hug crooning Congratulations and admiring my award. I always wondered why a man would be so cheesy, I freed myself from his grip and we left. Amandas’ Point of view “Hi ma’am, we are about to land, could you please open your window shade and straighten your seat belt?” I felt a tap, then I jumped up in fright, shouting “ I am sorry mum” I removed my sunshade to find the air hostess staring at me weirdly and other passengers giving me stares. “oh, I am sorry” I apologized but she was quick to respond with pleas of her own “ I should be the one to apologise, I am sorry for startling you”. “ Oh, not at all, it is just that I was having a dream about getting beaten up” I replied “My Goodness, That must have been a nightmare” She nodded like she understood but I knew she did not, so I thanked her and did as instructed. I stared out of the window and murmured “I have arrived” Sandys’ Point of View “where is she? Huh!” I ran along the airports exit, then I saw a slender figure sitting atop a box. “Amanda” I shouted and stopped in my tracks Amandas’ Point of View “Wow, seeing your face makes me realise, I am really back Sandy” I spoke with emotion “You! do you know how startled I was when you said you were at the airport? sandy said almost in tears. “I did not even get to wash up. “I can see that, did you miss me so much to rush over here with dark spots all over your face? I asked playfully. “is that not chocolate on your nose? I asked further chuckling “Oh my God, you have become so slimy after all those years in the U.S” she said examining my face and frowning. “I know right" I said pretending to be gloomy. I felt it was over the top even as i was saying it. “Still its been years since we have seen each other, Don’t pretend you are not happy to see me” I said pouting. I opened my arms and beckoned to her “Here, give me a hug”. She equally opened her arms and enveloped me in a bear hug as we moved towards the airport with me chasing after her. I rolled down the windows of her car and put my face outside while the breeze blew peace upon my face and it felt heavenly and my insides felt warm momentarily forgetting the danger that looms ahead. But my joy was short lived as the glass suddenly came up and I glanced at sandy “Hey! Warn me before you roll up the windows” I said feigning annoyance. “I’m teaching you to be cautious at all times my dear, sticking your head out like that is dangerous” she said grinning. “Wow! You sounded like a real Parademic just now” I said in mock admiration “That’s because I really am” She replied with feeling, “Exactly” I said smiling. “Hey! hey! Hey!, Where’s the girl I used to know who would jump Fences wearing a cape?” Sandy asked, taking her eyes off the road for a while and settling it on me while I looked out the window. “I used to like her” sandy continued “ it is thanks to kids like that, that I get a paycheck.” She laughed richly and added “By the way, why do you look so skinny?” Are you losing weight for your wedding day?” “I am killing it right? I asked with mock pride “This jawline could cut You”. “Could you avoid using words like cut or kill?” “It is making me antsy” She shivered “i am sorry” I apologized immediately. “Did you call your mom? Because my mom did not tell me you were coming back home”. “Sure I Did” I replied looking down “of course, you did, what about Carlos, did you inform him?” she asked “He must be busy, how is he doing anyway, I asked off handedly?” “he is fine” she affirmed and we Continued the rest of the ride in Silence.
