Chapter 11

Replying to my dear reader, Vampiresiren: I already used Laito's fear of crawling insects in my other FanFiction, that's why I decided to do something new this time.

I only wished that someone left a review saying anything about Subaru's memory with his mother, since I'm not sure that I nailed that one right. Critics will help too.

I made this chapter longer as an apology for being late. I'll update once each week from now on.

"Good evening..." I said speaking to Subaru.

"..." Subaru gave no response.

"I said good evening..." I repeated my words trying to break the silence. He didn't say a word. "Come on! I said I'm sorry! For how long you'll keep ignoring me?!" I spoke going around till I was face to face with him.

"Tch! Can't you tell that I'm not in the mood now?!" He finally yelled after a lot of nagging.

"I can see that. You were like this for the last few days too. Always ignoring me and yelling at me when I stay around you for a long time. You'll keep this act forever?" I said narrowing my eyes.

"What if I say yes? What'll you do about it?" He said raising an eyebrow.

"Then I'll keep following you around and make your day 'hell' " I said smirking.

Subaru gave an irritated sigh and went to the limo. I went after him and made sure to sit beside him. When I did that, he simply used his leg to push me to the other side. I was about to protest but with the others coming in I decided to save it for later. Ayato sat next to me and whispered that he finally is considering to forgive me for that after Laito's prank. I felt relived. There was one problem though: fixing things with Ayato made things worse with Laito. And with Laito being the most dangerous one out of all of them I doubted that he'll let me off with the extra sucking he gave me for the last few days.

Even without saying his name out loud, the guy knew that I was thinking about him and grinned his usual grin. Then he leaned towards Subaru and whispered something that made the silver-haired blush and yell: "It's not like that dammit!"

Laito giggled. Subaru noticed how loud he was when he saw everybody's eyes on him. "What? Got something to say?" He hissed loudly.

"In fact, I have something to say..." Laito said, his grin not leaving his face. "It's about what I said earlier-"

"You'll shut your mouth or I'll shut it for you?!" Subaru yelled grabbing Laito's collar.

"So it's right then..." Laito said making Subaru blush and prepare a fist in his hand.

The current scene was interrupted by Reiji coughing, as he silently warned his brothers from disturbing him and behave themselves.

I was dying to know what Laito told Subaru to make him yell like that, but when I approached Subaru he shut me up before I say a word: "Don't you even try..." he said.

I didn't have a chance that time with his mood so I went to class. Not that made me go far away from him since his seat was right next to me. He noticed that so he ditched the next few classes.

I waited patiently for our break so I can look for Subaru. I didn't use much energy when I looked as he was in his usual hiding place. But this time, he wasn't alone.

"Hey there, little guy. You lost?" Subaru said stretching his hand to a cat, who strangely, ended up in school.

My jaw dropped seeing what happened afterwards as the little kitty approached Subaru's hand slowly. Seconds later the kitty was in Subaru's hand nuzzling her head in it. (Oh my god...) I thought as my hand automatically went up to my mouth to cover it from the surprise.

"Hey... stop clinging to me like that..." he said smiling slightly. I was throughly charmed by the what was happening that I kept recording in my mind as the cat started to feel more comfortable in Subaru's hand.

When Subaru saw that, he gently lifted the small cat and placed it on his lap, then began stroking its head slowly. Words where threatening to escape my mouth while I watched that. But I needn't to make any voice as Subaru suddenly woke up to his surroundings and noticed my presence. And since I wasn't really hiding myself, he caught me easily. I chuckled nervously as he looked at me eye widened. He was like that for a while.

"Nami!" He finally said jumping. Then it seems that realization hit him. "Why you!" He said placing the cat on the ground and went towards me. I backed away slightly before my back hit a wall.

"Sorry... I couldn't help myself..." I said hoping that would be enough.

"If you dare and tell anyone about this... then I'll crush you!" He said planting his fist in the wall next to my head.

I shook slightly at the sudden hit but regained my composure quickly. "I'll promise to tell a soul. But with one condition..." I said smiling slyly.

"Condition?! What word didn't you get from what I just told you?! I said that I'll cru-"

"You can't kill me nor even harm me in the middle of the school. One scream and half of the students will be here in no time." I said interrupting him.

"You..." he said glaring down at me. I kept staring back not budging. After a minute, he cursed. "What is it..." he finally gave up.

"Stop ignoring me and be normal again." I said quickly.

"Wha-" he said blushing a little. "Easy for you to say..." he suddenly whispered quietly.

"No it's not! You know I sat half an hour cursing myself when I found out of my embarrassing action AND Laito's little present..." I said as some light shade of red appeared on my cheeks.

"Laito's... present...?" Subaru repeated confusedly. I mentally face palmed. Laito may end up in some serious trouble by me saying those words. And more trouble for Laito caused by me means my death coming earlier.

"D-don't worry! Ayato and I took care of that already and paid him back!" I said waving my hands.

"Ayato...?" He said glaring more.

(Dammit!) "Yeah! We played a good prank on Laito a few days ago! Didn't you know? That's why I ended up cleaning the whole kitchen!" I said trying to banish his anger. (Wait why I'm explaining this in the first place?! Of course he wouldn't be angry from spending some time with his brothers...)

My thoughts were completely wrong as Subaru's anger grew with every word that I said. "Seems like you had fun..." he said darkly.

"Y-yeah! You know what did we do? W-we placed some hot pepper in his boxer!" I said faking a laugh.

Luckily, that sentence made Subaru laugh for real and forget about what I said earlier. "You crazy b***h! Firstly a dart in Ayato's butt then this..." he said between his laughs. I was inwardly happy to see Subaru laughing again.

"You should've seen his face! He was jumping and yelling "It's burning!"" I said laughing a little too.

Subaru laughed some more before he went back to be serious. "For your condition, I have you do MY condition first." He said smiling that smile. I knew what was coming next.

"Seriously? We're in school." I said bored.

"Shut up. I've been holding myself for a while..." he said getting near my neck then give it a small lick. It sent shivers through my body but I stayed silent, just to avoid things getting worse.

For my surprise, Subaru actually hugged me while sucking my blood. That was a first since he usually pushes me roughly or pin me to nearby wall. "Subaru...?" I said quietly, confusion in my voice.

Subaru didn't answer and kept on sucking. After he was finished he finally noticed what was he doing and backed away quickly. And before I could say anything he left. The little cat followed him too making me stand there wordlessly.

(Maybe he didn't notice and it was all by chance...) I thought as I was walking in the hallway dazed. I felt tired and once again I didn't pass out though he sucked a lot. It was rather strange. Was being strong another part of my powers or was I simply overthinking things?

The typical bumping scenario took place after that as I was too busy thinking and didn't notice someone in front of me. This time, I didn't end up on my butt and stayed balanced.

"Kou-sama! You okay?!" I heard a girl's voice so I looked to see Kou, himself, in front of me.

(Bad timing!) I screamed in my head as I silently bowed as an apology. I turned to leave but that didn't work of course since Kou, grabbed my arm from behind. "Neko-chan~ Perfect timing! I was searching for you!" Kou said smiling innocently but that didn't please the fan girls as all of them glared at me.

I was trapped. If I leave I'll embarrass myself and will be the next target of Kou's fans. If I stay I had a feeling that something bad will happen. "You needed something, Kou-sama?" I said nervously. He MUST'VE noticed that I was avoiding him.

"Yup! You didn't come to my concert. Why's that?" He said still smiling.

"Oh!" I said loudly. "You know... I was b-busy and..." I said lamely as no excuse came to mind.

"Hmm? But I thought that I was your favorite idol..." Kou said pouting.

"Y-you are! It's just-"

"You were also ignoring me for a while. Care to explain that too?" He said as his pout was replaced by another smile.

"Uh..." I felt speechless. How was I supposed to tell him that I found out that he was a vampire in front of the other girls?

Thankfully, Kou noticed that and pointed for the girls to leave us alone. The girls leaved hesitatingly and I knew that I'll get in trouble for this later. "You talk now we're all alone." He said softly.

"I..." I was hesitant myself. What if he wasn't a vampire? I didn't see it with my eyes after all so I had the right to be suspicious.

"They told you didn't they?" Kou said as the smile vanished from his face.

(So it's true...) I thought as my chest felt tight. "Yeah..." I said lowering my gaze toward the ground. (But if I think about it, maybe Kou is different from the brothers... he's after all such a nice guy-)

"Makes things easier for me..." Kou stopped my thoughts as his face changed. His innocent smile was replaced by an evil one and his eyes glowed for a second. He's face was dangerously near mine as the fans continued whispering behind us. Kou saw that so he quickly ran dragging me with him. The sudden rush was so surprising that I didn't have any time to react nor the fans to follow us.

We ended up in an empty hallway. I gulped seeing Kou's eyes. (No... this can't be happening...) I thought to myself as he began approaching me again. "I thought you were different..." I said as I felt hurt again. I really admired him and loved his art after all.

"Really? Too bad for you, M-Neko-chan~" he said smiling innocently again. I tried to push him away as he was getting closer. "Mmm~ you can't stop me now after I smelled your sweet blood..." Kou said pouting again.

(Smelled...?) I thought before I remembered what Subaru just did. (I should've stopped him then!) I yelled in my head blaming my stupidity.

"So this is the new girl? Looks crap to me." A heard a deep voice so I quickly turned to see a really, tall, tall, tall guy standing near us.

(Wow! How tall is he... and wait, did he just call me crap?!) I thought noticing. "Another failed attempt, I see..." said another guy who was shorter than the other guy and looked smarter.

(And who's that? Failed attempt...?) All what I did that time was thinking to myself as I felt that anything I would say will make me go straight to a bad ending. "She's... not that... bad... I like... her hair..." a slow spoken speech came out of the mouth of a guy that seemed really hurt. He was covered up by bandages and I wondered how he can still walk.

"Her hair? What do you like about it? It's just plain dude." The tallest guy said flipping some locks from my hair. I silently glared at him. It was the second time he insulted me that night. He noticed that quickly and glared back. "What? Got a problem, pipsqueak?" He said insulting me for the third time. I stayed silent and continued glaring. He didn't say anything too but looked very irritated.

"You guys always like to ruin my fun don't you?" Kou said speaking to the other three.

"We're not here to ruin it, we came here to share it." The tall guy said. Kou gave a confused look. "You thought that I'll let you get all the fun for yourself? Not a chance." Mr. Lengthy said pushing Kou aside.

"But I didn't get to do anything yet!" Kou said protesting.

"Bigger guys go first." Mr. Lengthy said with a smirk as it was his turn to approach me.

When he was standing right in front of me, I decided that I'll try and defend myself so I gave him the strongest head butt that my head could pull off. Due to him being extremely 'lengthy' my head butt slammed onto his chest. It worked as the tall guy took some steps behind and I was able to go to the other side away from the four. His chest felt like steel when I hit it and my head was killing me but that didn't matter. All what was I focused on was running for my life. (So there's three more...) I thought concluding that they all were vampires and knew each other.

"What was that, pipsqueak?!" Mr. lengthy yelled at me.

"I can't believe that she got you, Yuma!" Kou said chuckling. (So that's his name...)

"Who got who?! I'll show you what happens to the one who messes-"

"Nope. My turn now. Stay here and learn, muscle-head." Kou said stopping Yuma and going my way. I backed away a bit and grabbed a near cleaning broom to defend myself. "That's not going to work, neko- OOF!" Kou appeared behind me in seconds. He could've got me if he didn't act smart and whisper near my neck. That's because I was really sensitive and without a warning my hand flew with the broom in it landing right in the middle of Kou's face. Kou stumbled after that and fell backwards. "Hey! Why the face?! You know that an idol's face is essential for his work!" Kou yelled as he got up. I too felt guilty for hitting him in the face since I liked it very much.

"Ha? Learn? Oh I learned my lesson perfectly, essential face!" Yuma said mocking Kou. Kou glared at Yuma but said nothing. Suddenly, the atmosphere became serious again. "Okay, play time's over, pipsqueak. Time for the real deal." Yuma said cracking his fists. I gulped raising the broom, my only weapon, against four vampires. Well, two actually as the other two were simply observing what was happening. But that was plenty for a normal girl anyway.

"Don't come any closer! I have a broom!" I said lamely.

"As I'll let you hit me twice, M-Neko-chan..." Kou said darkly.

"YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT A BROOM CAN DO!" I said in the highest pitched voice possible as I began to feel scared, then I started to wave the broom crazily.

With a swift approach, Yuma held me up while Kou took the broom out of my hand. I ended up being held in the air by Mr. Lengthy. But I didn't give up as I continued to kick my feet in the air preventing Kou from coming any closer. "Stay still, pipsqueak!" Yuma said squeezing the life out of my shoulders.

"NEVER!" I yelled continuing to kick.

"Hands of her, bastard!" I heard a yell from behind.

My chest was filled with relief as I realized who the voice belonged to. "Subaru!" I said happily.

Instead of replying, Subaru just dashed to punch both Kou and Yuma in the face. They both dodged and I ended up on my butt after Yuma threw me aside. "Thanks a lot..." I mumbled.

"Finally you show up... and I thought you'll abandoned your girl..." Kou said smirking. "We were having a good time. Too bad you interrupted us. Right, M-Neko-chan?" Kou winked.

Subaru gave me an icy look. "What the hell did they do?"

"Nothing. They tried to suck my blood so I gave Yuma a head butt on his chest and slapped Kou with a broom. Not to forget that I was about to kick him again in the face before you came." I said embarrassing the two guys.

Subaru smirked. "Crazy as always..." he mumbled. "Now I'll take care of those bastards for you..." Subaru said as his eyes glowed. I couldn't help it but focus on the words: for you.

"You'll take all of us by yourself? You've got guts don't you?" Yuma said smirking, his tall figure overshadowing Subaru.

"Now who said that?" Another one joined the conversation. It was Laito. "Our b***h-chan may act bitchy sometimes but she's still OUR b***h-chan, not yours." Laito said standing near Subaru.

"Got that half right Laito since she's MY property, after all." Ayato said appearing too.

"We'll see about that, Ayato-kun." Laito said smiling devilishly. Ayato glared back. Subaru face palmed and I wondered if they were going to fight Kou and Yuma or each other.

At the end, the three of them were able to get me out of my trouble after a lot of flying curses and threatenings. Seemed to me like both of the groups HATED each other for some reason. I felt curious seeing that and wondered if I could know more about the reasons. Maybe by looking into the Mukamis eyes, who their names I learned from Laito.

"Subaru..." I said softly as I was walking behind him.

"What?" He said annoyed. He never asked how did I end up in that situation but I had a feeling that he'll do at the manor.

"Thank you... for you help back there..." I said blushing a little bit.

"No problem..." Subaru said avoiding my gaze. I giggled in my secret.

"You won't thank me, b***h-chan?" Laito said appearing in front of me.

"What about yours truly?" Ayato joined in too.

I giggled. "Of course, thank you, both of you." I said smiling. "It's just that I always like to nag Subaru first." I said grinning.

"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?!" Subaru yelled loudly. I giggled and went into our class. "Hey, Nami!"

So, was it good?

I was inspired by the many pictures that I saw Subaru in with a cat, that's why I made Subaru's little scene with the kitty. I'm also slightly developing things between Nami and Subaru, both are being attracted to each other but no one realizes it yet. Not going to push things quickly so I'm just going to place hints here and there. Also, did you notice the small change in Nami's character? Nami was supposed to be a normal girl but I can't help it but make her go crazy from time to time. It's also a part of the story. Kou may act nasty for now but things will get better afterwards. Sorry if Yuma's nickname was kinda lame but that's all what I could come up with ;-_-
