"So... aside from all the crazy things you did this week... any progress with helping the brothers?" Yui asked, more healthier than ever, but still not ready to live her life normally again.
"Uh... the last memory I saw was Subaru's as I told you... if you're asking about new ones then I'm sorry... I didn't see anything recently..." I said lowering my face.
She sighed. "Nami-chan, it's good that you're having fun with Ayato and the others... but we both don't know when they'll get bored and do something dangerous... especially with the full moon night coming closer..." Yui said looking down upon her trembling fingers.
"Full moon night? The same night when they go crazy?" I said looking at her again.
"Yes... in that night, they crave for blood abnormally and they become truly dangerous..." she stopped for a moment. "I'm telling you because I've experienced this before..."
My eyes widened. (Could her being sick and close to dying when I first saw her is a result of a full moon night...?) I wondered and couldn't help it but feel scared as well.
Though I had no family, no close relatives and no place to go back to, I still feared for myself seeing Yui's terrified expression. And that surely appeared on my face so Yui asked worried: "Are you okay, Nami-chan?"
"That's my line, Yui! If I had a mirror, I would let you see how terrified you look right now!"
"Ah! I'm sorry! I didn't realize..." she said suddenly.
"What happened with you, Yui? You've never told me..." As I said that, Yui's sad expression returned to her. I guessed that she was recalling her dark experience. "Look... you don't need to force yourself. I was just wondering since all of the brothers seems to like you... a lot..."
Yui smiled bitterly. "Really? But I'm just a blood bag-"
"I don't think they see you that way. Especially Ayato." I said interrupting her.
The blond girl blushed and smiled slightly. "Is that so? Then-"
Once again, I interrupted the girl. This time, I also grabbed her cheeks and pinched them softly. "Look! I'm not a messenger of love! That's why you'll hurry up and spill some beans!"
"Th-that... hurth... Nami..." she said tapping out. I left her cheeks. "I'm sorry... but I couldn't help it..." she said covering her red cheeks. Not sure if those was from embarrassment or my pinching. "You may think it's a good thing... Nami-chan... but it's actually not... to be liked like that..." I was surprised, but I didn't say anything and waited for her to finish. "After all... it was the main reason I became like this..."
"What?! How so?!"
Yui flinched at my sudden outburst, but then chuckled slightly. "It's weird right? The reason I was attacked was them trying to make me chose one of them." My jaw literally dropped. "And it happened on a full moon night too. They said if I wasn't able to choose, then they'll make me chose by deciding... who I like to suck my blood the most..."
When Yui finished, my mind made a quick scene of what Yui might gone through: I imagined her being held down by the six vampires as each one of them took a part of her body and began sucking on it. I got goosebumps imagining that so I immediately erased it. "I see. And then you became like that?" She nodded. "They tried to heal you but when they noticed that you weren't recovering they left you?"
"Umm... that's not quite right, Nami-chan. The truth is that the medicine was actually working but..." she paused again. "But with them drinking my blood everyday..."
"They were drinking your blood?! Even in this condition?!" I said standing up from my place.
"Yes... that's why they left me to die... since they felt sorry for me... I think..." she said, tears growing in her eyes.
I sat down again. (Uh... she will cry... what should I do?!) I thought as I panicked a little. "I remember! A few days ago! I met the Mukami family!" I said trying to change the topic.
Yui mournful expression vanished. "Oh! Really?" She said looking surprised. "And I thought you took too long!"
(Too long...?) "Well... I already knew Kou..." I stopped and looked down. "Since he was my favorite idol..." I whispered that part. "But then I bumped into him and met the other three. I was really shocked that there are four more vampires in the school! Tell me Yui, do we have more of them in the school?"
She shook her head. "No. I think the Sakamaki and the Mukami families are the only ones. But... there're two more... but they don't attend the school..."
"Two more?! Oh no! Why too many vampires for just two girls?! They're completely ignoring the fact of the word having more females that males!" I said rubbing my head.
Yui chuckled again. "We are really unfortunate aren't we?" I nodded bitterly. "Speaking of the Mukamis, how was your meeting with them?" Yui asked tilting her head.
I froze. "It was normal... I think..."
"That's a lie." Yui said catching me right away.
"But..."
"It's a lie!"
"Okay! Okay! I'll tell you!" I said giving up. "It started with me bumping into Kou as I told you, then he dragged me away from his hateful fans... then he started to get close to me and tried to drink my blood. I fought back and that's when the other three appeared. Yuma, the tallest, was foul mouthed and even pushed Kou to drink my blood instead." I paused and crossed my arms. "But I wouldn't let him do that of course so I gave him a strong head-butt that landed on his chest!" I felt proud of myself for some reason as I said that.
"You hit Yuma?!" Yui said unbelievably.
"Yup! Not just that! I even smacked Kou with a broom!" I said grinning. (Thought I wished I didn't hurt that beautiful face of his...)
"Nami-chan!" Yui yelled out of the blue.
"Calm down. Nothing happened. Subaru and the others came to help after I did that."
Yui sighed relived. "You could've got hurt... you know..." she said scolding me.
"I know that. But I couldn't just stand there and let them do whatever they wanted!" I said countering. "By the way, how was your meeting with them, Yui?"
Yui blinked. "My meeting? Um... I remember that I got into a similar situation like yours, Nami-chan... Ayato and the others came to help me. But then the Mukamis kidnapped me and..."
"Wait wait wait! They KIDNAPPED you?!"
"Yes..."
"And how did you escape?"
"I... it doesn't matter! It all turned to be alright right?!" Yui said faking a smile.
"Alright? I bet they did like the Sakamakis: drink your blood and insult you all the time. If not worse!" I said feeling angry. Yui noticed that and went silent. "Yui, I will ask you a question now. Please be honest with me when answering, alright?"
Yui looked at me confused. "O-okay..."
I took a deep breath. "Tell me Yui, when any of the brothers or the Mukamis tried to attack you, did you fight back?"
Yui looked stunned. "I d-don't understand... why-"
"You said that you'll answer honestly." I said shutting her up.
Yui's eyes widened then she looked down again. "No..."
"Not even when they kidnapped you?" She shook her head. I narrowed my eyes. "Yui. Do you have any family?"
Yui looked doubled surprised by my question. "I have my father..." she said hesitantly.
"Did he knew that this is a vampire mansion before he sent you?"
"I-I don't know..." she said closing her eyes.
"You have anyone else beside your father?"
"No..."
My eyes softened. (So, her situation is similar to mine...) I thought. But that wasn't enough as an excuse for her not defending herself at all, since I was doing that knowing that I'll get me killed. "Yui, despite how much sorry I feel for you, I still think that you hold a bit of responsibility for you ending up like this..."
"Huh?" Yui said confusedly.
"You see... the difference between me and you is nothing but one thing: I defend myself but you don't. I think that is a main reason why the brothers took it too far with you."
"But! If I fight back! They'll kill me!" Yui said panicking.
"I know. But let's face the truth, Yui. I discovered recently and you must've already known that dying may be a better option than living in here am I wrong? Seeing Kanato's doll collection was enough for me to make me hate life for a few days." I said trying to make my point clear.
"You say that but you don't know anything, Nami-chan! Dying is... dying is!"
"I know. Dying is scary isn't it? I really can't lie and tell you that I'm not scared of dying. But when both of us has really nothing to lose, doesn't that makes dying less scarier than before?" I said smiling softly. Yui was speechless. "What I want to say that when you fully recover and be able to walk around in the manor again, just try to run away so you avoid getting like this again, okay?" I said grabbing her hands and squeezing them a little to reassure her. She said nothing.
When I saw that the conversation ended, I stood up after saying goodby to Yui and went for the door.
Nobody would've expected what I heard afterwards, not even the I-know-it-all Laito. "You say those things... Nami-chan... but you'll someday understand... and that day will be the day you die..."
I turned to where the voice came from. There, I found Yui surrounded by a dark aura and she looked like she was in another whole world. I was about to say something but then I decided to keep my mouth shut and pretend like I heard nothing.
As I walked out, my mind screamed in confusion and surprise. (So even an innocent-looking girl like her can be like this...) I thought after calming down.
(Damn... this world is surely full of lies...)
"Books." I said once again.
"No." Reiji replied for the I don't-know-how-many-times that night.
"Come on! I need to search about something!"
"I am surprised that you dare and come to my room yourself after doing that sly move of yours not so long ago. But then I am shocked to discover that you came to ask me for a favor after your shameful doing!" Reiji said glaring at me.
(He found out!) I thought getting nervous. "L-listen! You can punish me for that later. I really need to use your library right now! It's important!" I repeated.
"What could be this important that you attempt to risk yourself like that?" Reiji said finally focusing on my request.
"Well... I can't really tell you but... I promise that I won't take long! Just a few hours and I'll be long gone!"
Reiji narrowed his eyes. "Firstly, a few 'hours' can certainly be described as long. Secondly, I will not allow you to touch a paper from the shelves of my library UNLESS you tell me your reason." He said making his points clear.
I gulped hearing that even though I already saw it coming. I couldn't just tell him about myself seeing memories of their childhood so I prepared something just in case. "But if I tell you, you will think it's not important and you won't let me search about it..."
"I will not. Now, do tell me your reason." Reiji said calmly.
"Okay... but first let me ask you this..." I said as I looked at him, he was listening. "Did you ever think that you drank too much of my blood but then feel that you didn't because you see that I didn't even pass out?"
"That... yes... it did cross my mind once or twice..." he said as he remembered.
"I noticed that too so I went to the school nurse yesterday, and when I did a check up she told me that my blood levels were extremely low and I'm on the verge of dying." I said telling him about my true experience from yesterday. "When I heard that, I got nervous and wondered why am I still walking around. The nurse noticed too and asked me, I told her that I had no idea. She did another check up, the result was the same. The third check up was different as all my blood levels returned to normal. Both me and the nurse were dumbfounded after seeing that. After checking that the device she used was perfectly working, she told me that she never saw nor learned about someone with such abnormal healing ability. You know it took me a lot of time to try and convince her that I was okay and I'll take care of it." I said sighing at the end.
"Is this... true?" He said still doubting me.
"Yeah."
"I see. I would like to assist you but the thought of the nurse being mistake is restraining me from doing that..." he said thoughtfully.
"I kept thinking about that too. But then I remembered that it happened right after Shuu drinking my blood then Laito and finally Kanato to finish the job; all while still in school."
"They did that on the school grounds?! How filthy!" Reiji said fixing his glasses. "Remind me to punish them later." He said darkly.
"I will." I grinned widely after saying that. The next thing I did was unbuttoning one of my buttons to show Reiji something. "And here, to make you believe me, just take a look at this, all of the bites that you guys gave me... are completely gone."
With that, Reiji stood up silently and went to his library. After a lot of searching, he came back with a dozen of books for me to read. I held myself as I wanted to jump around from happiness. "Here. These are the books that offers information about supernatural beings. If these does not help, then I shall get you books about human conditions and illnesses." He said putting the huge pile down.
I was kind of surprised he preferred to give me the supernatural books first, but it made me more excited so I didn't comment.
I took the first book and looked into it. (Werewolves...) I thought as I read the title of the first part. (Creatures that changes form at the time of a full moon. Abnormally strong. In fact, they represent the strongest beings upon all...) I stopped right there. That clearly would not be me as I went through many full moons and nothing happened. And I wasn't that strong so I left that part and went to the next one.
I started reading. (Vampires... that could help...) I thought as my eyes went down to read. (Extremely strong beings that lives under the black blanket of night. Their main meal is blood as they use sharp fangs to suck the blood of their prey. Can teleport, fly on a full moon night and heal by their salvia. Increased senses makes them a fearful enemy. Crosses and garlics do not work on them. If a human encountered them, best to leave quickly, since humans are the main source of blood for vampires.) I read the introduction and thought that it was too late to read that.
I then noticed that I skipped a few pages in the beginning so I went back to see that it was the humans part. When I read the title, I got curious and started to read what it was written about us in there. (Known for not having any special traits comparing to the other beings, humans represents the weakest creatures physically. Their strong point rests in their minds as they developed throughout the years. They made up for their physical weakness by making deadly weapons and plans to eliminate any enemy. Together, they make a fearful opponent.) When I finished reading that, I couldn't help it but think that writer may have hated humans a little bit.
The forth part title was: witches and warlocks. The title took my interest so I started reading. (Having the exact same appearance as a human, witches and warlocks can dwell in the human society without being found out easily. However, they differ from a human greatly as they are able to use magic and spells professionally. While humans need years of practice to be able to perform one simple spell, witches and warlocks need no such things as their natural talent allows them to perform powerful spells at a young age. That explains why they are classified and placed in a different category from humans as they can be extremely dangerous.)
I nodded my head as I thought that I was close to what I was looking for. (Let me read more...) I thought as I flipped to the next part and started to read the kind of spells a witch can perform. (Let's see... teleportation, time travel, human brain washing...) I kept reading the tall list but stopped when I noticed something: (Memory manipulation and intruding.) My mouth slightly opened when I saw that. My eyes also caught: healing and recovery spells from between the lines.
After seeing that, I quickly began reading the history of the witches and warlocks. There, I saw a list that shows the names of the witches families. (Shiromadoshi, Akaimahou...) I read and read until I saw the one I was looking for: (Kuromajo...)
I placed the book on the table trying to get over my shock. "Wow..." I said unintentionally.
"Did you find anything?" Reiji said approaching me.
Upon hearing his voice, I raised my head and smiled idiotically. "Reiji, would you mind if I stayed here for a while since it seems like I'll need to know a lot of things about myself..."
Anyone guessed that? Well, things may still be a little unclear for now but you'll all find out more as the story goes on. I made Yui has a dark side thinking that it's normal due to her time with the brothers. Also, I always wanted to write a scolding part for Yui since I HATE how that girl deals with the six brothers. I mean, he attacks her and kisses her on the lips, wouldn't it be normal for her TO SLAP HIM AND PUNCH HIM IN THE STOMACH?! Or at least run! Resist a little! For god's sake -_-
Nami telling Reiji first is intentional not only for her to borrow his books but to speed up things with Subaru as well~
If you liked what I wrote, leave a review. If you hated it, feel free to point out my mistakes by leaving a review too ^^
Look forward to the next chapter!
