Broken Bond

As I walked into Mike's dorm room, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves. We'd been dating for a few weeks now, and I knew that staying over at his place was a big step. Mike smiled at me, his eyes sparkling with warmth. "Hey, I'm glad you're here," he said, pulling me into a gentle hug. I hugged him back, feeling a sense of comfort and security in his arms. We'd talked about this moment, and I knew that Mike respected my boundaries. But I was still a little nervous. As we settled in for the night, Mike asked me if I was okay. I nodded, smiling at him. "I'm good," I said. "Just a little nervous." Mike's expression softened. "Don't be nervous," he said. "I promise I'll take care of you." And with that, he leaned in and kissed me. It was a gentle, sweet kiss, but it sent shivers down my spine. As the night wore on, Mike and I talked and laughed together. We shared stories, and he told me more about his family and his dreams. I felt like I was getting to know him on a deeper level, and it was exhilarating. Eventually, we decided to get some rest. Mike pulled me into his arms, and I felt a sense of safety and security. I knew that I was exactly where I was meant to be. The next morning, Mike woke me up with a gentle kiss on the forehead. "Good morning," he said, smiling at me. I smiled back, feeling a little sleepy but mostly happy. "Good morning," I replied. As we got ready for the day, Mike asked me if I wanted to meet up with him and his friends later. I agreed, and we made plans to meet up at the campus café. The rest of the day was a blur of classes and studying. But I couldn't wait to see Mike again, and to meet his friends. As I walked into the campus café, I spotted Mike sitting at a table with a group of people. He smiled at me, and I felt a rush of excitement. "Hey," he said, standing up to greet me. "I'm glad you could make it." I smiled back, feeling a little nervous. "Thanks for inviting me," I said. As we sat down, Mike introduced me to his friends. There was Emma, a psychology major with a quick wit and a sharp tongue. There was Jake, a business major with a charming smile and a confident air. And there was Olivia, a biology major with a quirky sense of humor and a passion for science. We talked and laughed together, sharing stories and jokes. I felt like I was fitting in, like I was a part of their group. As the evening wore on, Mike leaned over and whispered in my ear. "I'm really glad you're here," he said. "You're amazing." I smiled, feeling a rush of happiness. "Thanks," I said. "I'm having a great time." As we left the café, Mike walked me back to my dorm. We stood outside, talking and laughing together. "I had a great time tonight," I said, smiling up at him. Mike smiled back, his eyes sparkling with warmth. "Me too," he said. "I'm really happy you're in my life." I felt a rush of emotion, and I knew exactly what he meant. "I'm happy too," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Mike leaned in, his lips brushing against mine. It was a soft, gentle kiss, but it sent shivers down my spine. As we pulled back, Mike smiled at me. "I'll see you tomorrow," he said. I smiled back, feeling happy and content. "I'm looking forward to it," I said. And with that, Mike turned and walked away, leaving me to wonder what the future held for us. As the days went by, Mike and I's relationship continued to blossom. We'd spend hours talking, laughing, and exploring the campus together. But despite my happiness, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. It started when I stayed over at Mike's place. Ever since then, Stacy had been acting strange. She'd rarely come home, and when she did, she'd be distant and cold. I tried to talk to her, to ask her what was wrong, but she'd just shrug me off. At first, I thought maybe she was just stressed with school or something, but as the days turned into weeks, I realized that something more was going on. Stacy was upset with me, and I had no idea why. One day, as I was studying in our dorm room, Stacy walked in, looking tired and drawn. She dropped her bag on the floor and collapsed onto her bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. "Hey, Stacy, what's going on?" I asked, trying to sound concerned but not intrusive. Stacy sighed, rolling over onto her side. "Nothing, Rex. Just school stuff." I raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "School stuff? That's been going on for weeks. You can tell me what's really going on." Stacy looked at me, her eyes flashing with anger. "You really don't get it, do you?" she snapped. "You're so caught up in your own little world with Mike that you don't even notice what's going on around you." I felt a sting from her words, but I tried to remain calm. "What are you talking about, Stacy?" Stacy sat up, her voice trembling. "I'm talking about how you've changed. You're never here, you're always with Mike, and when you are here, you're distant and preoccupied. It's like you've forgotten about me and our friendship."
