I had a lot to occupy myself with over the next few weeks, which helped. The end of the holidays, buying stuff for university, moving up to London. I thought about David all the time, though I tried not to.
Milly consoled me by telling me that it was just distance, and bad timing. That he definitely liked me, and in other circumstances it would all be different. There wasn’t anything she could say that could make me feel better, but it still helped
