Chapter 22 It was a Friday night in December, during the university vacation. My parents had gone away for the weekend and Milly and I were vegetating in front of the TV. We had originally planned to go out, but the weather was awful and we weren’t in the mood. It was nearly midnight, the time when they aired programmes like Eurotrash and late-night chat shows. Nothing of much interest, and better watched drunk, which we weren’t. "I’ll have to go to bed soon," I said.
