"I have to give it to you," Betty said with a wrinkled smile on her leathered face, "you are persistent, child." Lila was persistent. She had spent seven months working hard to gain some respect around there. It was hard, and it still is, but at least most of Ethan's wolves accept her. Some of them even talk to her now. Betty was one of them. She had been hard on Lila in the beginning - feisty and mean. But after five months, she finally dropped her hostile attitude, and so did most of the other wolves at the nursing home.
"How are you feeling?" she asked, jerking her head at Lila's baby bump. Lila smiled and rubbed her belly. "Is the little princess giving you a hard time?"
"No, actually, she's been a good girl."
"How much longer?"
