Chapter 9 ISABELLA SAVINO STOOD five-foot-eight inches tall, with shoulder-length brown hair, and big brown eyes. She had been on the Buffalo Police force since she was twenty-two years old. Her father was an old-time Italian from the West Side and did not want her to join the force. “This is a bad idea,” he told her. “You know so many of these people; they are friends, family. Anyhow, it’s too dangerous.” She refused to listen to her father, but he was right. Nothing came easy for her. She had to work twice as hard as any male cop in the city. She started on a walking beat in the worst neighborhood in the city. Her commanders and the male cops always tried to break her, but she refused to give in. She worked hard until she made detective, and finally homicide. Which leads to the case
