Chapter 54
WHEN REX GOT HOME HE looked up, and down the street before heading to the back door. He pushed his bike down the sidewalk between the houses, still vigilant. He looked in the yard, and didn't see anything out of the ordinary, then unlocked the door, rolled his bike inside, and slammed the door behind him. He pulled the string on the light, and it broke, again. Rex pulled out his phone and pressed the flashlight icon so he could see as he locked his bike. He flashed his light up the stairs to illuminate his walk. As he neared the top of the stairs, a voice in the dark startled him.
“Where ya been, Rex?”
Startled, he grabbed the railing and shined the light at the top of the stairs. There was Neumann, sitting in the dark. He was wearing a pair of white briefs, and nothing else.
