Chapter 55
DONNY KNEW HE HAD TO square this up with his father. One thing his old man loved was fried chicken. So Donny stopped at KFC on the way home. That night over fried chicken Donny explained the whole story to his father.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Don Mancini admonished his son. “Jimmy said I’d be responsible for this.”
“I’m sorry, Pops. Ragu is an asshole, and he was trying to run down my friend.”
Mancini sighed, “What were you even doing following him?”
“I overheard something at the club, so I thought he was after you.”
“What!?”
“Yeah. I followed him out here, and that’s when I saw him try to run down Rex.”
“Jesus. Okay, Junior. We have to figure out what we’re gonna do.”
“All right, Pops. I have to run to the store. Do you need anything?”
“No, just - hurry back.”
