Chapter 25 GERRY SENT REX TO PICK up an envelope at the Main-Seneca building. It was built as the headquarters for Marine Midland Trust Company. The bank would later build a larger building across the street, and even later was bought by HSBC. This building, like many of the old ones that survived in Buffalo’s downtown, still looked grand. The office Rex went to was on the fifteenth floor. It housed a sole lawyer, Brandon Allenworth, an eccentric old man with only a secretary. He long ago retired but did some legal work to keep himself busy. Rex arrived at the office and opened the door. The secretary was not in, as her desk was empty. A gruff, old voice called from the inner office, “Who’s there?” “I’m here from Zippee Messengers to pick up an envelope.” “Oh, yes, yes. Come in here.”
