THE SEASIDE VILLAGE of Ballantrae where they'd set up base was near the caves of the Sawney Bean legend without actually being next door to them. Cat hoped that it was close enough to the place she continued to see the tree in her dreams, while still remaining far enough away that they wouldn't be at risk of immediate death. The village was the epitome of quaint. Many of the buildings appeared to be hundreds of years old, with sagging thatched roof cottages and old brick buildings that had been weathered by decades of rain and coastal winds.
