Chapter 11 Quinn did her best not to shudder when Doug stepped closer to the furnace. As far as she was concerned, having to spend even brief time next to so many of them was by far the worst part of her job. Even in a basement that had never bothered her otherwise. She’d mentioned it to her father once, that deep-seated fear that she couldn’t seem to leave behind, even though she dealt with it so often. He’d told her about a visit to family over in Indiana, people she didn’t remember at all. Apparently they were close relations around the time she was born. Good people, too, to hear her dad talk about them. Real shame when they passed away, and he missed them still.
