Ch. 19

The morning brings beautiful sunlight into the room as Ana and Jace curl even closer to one another. Neither is ready to move and face the day yet, however there is a knock on the door. "Ana, are you up sweetie, we need to eat before we head to Reille's cabin?" her sweet mother's voice rings from the other side of the door. With a groan, Ana moves. Jace grips her tighter, but she just smiles, plants a kiss on his soft lips and heads to the shower. Jace follows her in and they make love before getting cleaned and ready for the day. They head to the dining hall where her parents are sitting with Doctor Ashlee. They are deep in conversation when Ana and Jace join them to eat. Just as Ana is about to take a bite, the food hits her nose and her stomach begins to flip. She grabs her mouth and quickly rushes to the bathroom, where she throws up. Jace rushes in, "Lee are you alright?" panic in his voice. Ella is close behind him. "Ana, when did this start?" Slowly, after she has emptied her stomach, she stands to her feet. Jace helps guide her out to the sink. "It just happened mama. Right when I smelled the food." As if knowing, Eli opened the door. "Ana, we need to get a urine sample. Its possible you are pregnant sweetheart." "WHAT?!" Jace and Ana turn in shock. Smiles written on their faces, Eli and Ella turn to each other. They all head to the pack hospital and within a few minutes, it is confirmed that Ana is expecting. "Will the drink harm the babies, dad?" Eli looks up from the ultrasound machine at his daughter. "Ashlee and I will make sure it does not." A few moments later, they heart the most beautiful sound. A heartbeat. Eli points to the screen, there is the baby. Ana looks up at Jace, there is a tear in his eye. "Wait." Ana snaps back to her dad. "what is it daddy, is something wrong with the baby?" "Quite the opposite my sweet girl, I see a second heartbeat." He moves the scope over and a second heartbeat is heard. Eli moves the scope again and both tiny pups come on the screen. Ana now has tears in her eyes as she stares at the screen. "My babies" "Our babies" Jace says as he leans down and kisses the mother of his pups. "Would you like to know what they are?" Eli questions. "Yes" Ana says quietly. A few moments pass, while Eli finishes his tests on the babies. "You have maternal twins, a boy and a girl." He proudly beams at his daughter. Jace cleans up the gel on Anas tummy and then she slowly sits up. Ella comes through the door and Ana shows her the sonogram. Ella gasps and bursts into tears. Hugging her daughter so tightly. "You be careful heading to Reille's cabin. ok?" "We will" Ella and Ana hug one last time before Jace and Ana get in the car and head out.
