As I left the Iron Strike office, I felt the need to go back to Mateo’s office. I don’t know what it was, but it almost felt like I needed to be near him. I shook the idea out of my head and walked to my car. My mind drifted to thoughts of Mateo as I drove out of the city. He was not what I expected and the polar opposite of Darren. Darren looked like a former president of a college fraternity. He was built but dressed like his wife had bought all his clothes in the wrong size. To finish the look, he had a basic cut worthy of a generic barbershop’s off-white poster wall. Everyone at Iron Strike seemed to be dressed well, even the men.
