Trust is like an arrangement of dominos, it take hours to get it right but seconds to send it all crumbling down. Reiss had never really had a stable family relationship. While she was in the orphanage the longest time she spent in a home was 7 months. It got to a point when she just waited out the time when they would no longer want her so she could return to her real family - Myra and Tyrone and when Avalon came into the picture he became a part of them, so when the only three stable things in her life reveal that they are not what they claimed to be it felt like her world was crumbling around her. —7 hours earlier— "Reiss, we need to tell you something that is long overdue" Myra said taking a seat. "Did something happen?"she asked when she sighted the sullen look on Tyrone's face, he always did have the worst poker face. "We are going to tell you something. You are not going to believe us. We will take you somewhere, you will be terribly freaked out. By tomorrow morning you will have accepted and then you will be mad at all of us. Then we are going to tell you something that we conveniently left out before. You will be madder, then we will take you somewhere and you wont speak to us again" Myra said as if listing foodstuff off a grocery list. "I've known you guys my whole life. Nothing could make me stop talking to you guys", Reiss replied, her faith in their friendship as strong as always. "You'll be singing a different tune in about 16 hours" Myra said matter-of-factly. "Myra, that's enough" Avalon shouted, speaking for the first time since Reiss entered the room, startling everyone. He turned to Reiss and pulled her into a hug, surprising her, he wasn't really one for bodily contact. "You need to sit down and keep an open mind" he said calmly, releasing her from the embrace. "What is going on you guys?" Reiss asked not finding this funny at all. "You remember that guy that was here earlier" Avalon started, Reiss' eyes darted to Myra and Tyrone, who were watching her face, waiting to gauge her reaction "He is a demon" he finished. She burst into laugher falling off the chair and clutching her stomach in pain as she tried to stop laughing but every time she was about to stop 'he is a demon' plays in her head again and it releases another round of laughter. Soon enough she was out of giggle juice and sat up on th floor but her friends did not find it funny. "So you are trying to say that the man that was sitting on my couch is a spawn from hell?" She asked barely holding in the laugh that was starting to bubble again. "How else do you want to explain him disappearing in front of you?"he asked seemingly angry "I dont know but there is no such thing as demons " "Why are we playing this game of denial? There are angels and demons living among the human".he shouted "You say 'the humans', implying that you are not one of said humans?" she sneered. "No, i am not and neither is anyone in this room." "So what are you, huh? Avalon, an angel or better yet, a demon" she asked managing to sound sincerely curious even though her face said otherwise. "Follow us somewhere tonight and you will see everything"Tyrone said speaking up for the first time "What? Are you gonna take me to hell to meet the devil?"she asked, shaking her head. She had seen things she could not explain the past 24 hours but she refused to be fed this bull crap especially today. She stormed of to her room slamming the door but not locking it. Her hands went to the necklace around her neck, when she arrive dat the orphanage all she had was the baby seat she was placed inside, the diaper on her butt, a blanket, a piece of paper which her name and date of birth were written upon and this necklace. She never took it off 'cause it was the only link to her parents. What had gotten into them making them spout such nonsense. Despite her better judgement she got dressed as evening came around. She didn't want to be angry at them without giving them a chance to prove whatever they are trying to prove. She really hoped this was just a very early April fools prank. Three of them were in the living room when she got there "I thought we were going out" she said when they looked at her in question. 10 minutes later and they were all oiled up in Tyrone's car an awkward silence enveloping them. When he pulled up on a street in the abandoned part of town she rolled her eyes. Of course if they were trying to make her believe what they are saying why not take her to the conveniently named street - Creepers lane. They all got down and Myra led the way, the chirping of crickets was the only sound to be heard, the place did justice to its name. When they entered one of the only buildings that seemed to have a sturdy structure, Reiss had had enough. "Did you bring me out here to scope the architecture or at? There is nothing at this side of town, even the alley cats stay away from here" she asked. Just them Myra muttered something under her breath before opening a door which had no walls holding it up yet itt stood and it looked like she just opened a portal to another dimension. Darkness and personal space were non-existent at the other side of the door, different bodies gyrating on each other and lights that could put the sun to shame but that's not the only thing to be noticed when looking through the door. The fact that a night club appeared from a door that had no walls was not the most shocking thing, men and women if they could be called that with fangs, tails and wings, human beings the size of cloth peg, bartenders who created ice from their finger tips to put it the drinks. Her legs gave out under her again and her eyes closed, her brain shutting down the body so there would be no need to make sense of what she just saw but it will all still be there once she came to... /ALTERNATE CONTINUATION/ "Do you believe us now?" Myra asked once she saw her eyes open "What?" "At least let her get up!" "I... I don't know what you guys are playing at... or why but I need you to stop it" she says sitting up "We are not playing at anything Reiss." Myra says frustrated "How could you see all that and still not believe us?" "I... I'm going for a walk" "It's late, and dangerous" "I'm going for a walk" she glares at them, grabs her jacket from the hanger beside the wall and steps out She felt eyes on her, looking around, she notices things she had never noticed before. A group of kids standing by a lamp post... their hears looked pointy. A bark in the distance sounded like a howl She could hear the conversation a couple was having while she was a block away The lights seemed brighter and she expected to be tired, but she wasn't
