"You dont belong there, there's a reason that you always felt out of place with the humans, the same reason why you made a family with the witch, the elementalist and the angel-born. You feel a connection, that connection is something you can feel with everyone here. Stay Euphorbia, this is your home."his voice was like candy, luring her senses into his trance with a promise of belonging, the sense of belonging she had only felt with her friends, but those friends were the same people that had lied to her, her whole life had been a lie, their relationship had been a lie.
That final thought was the final thing to break her out of the trance. "If you're not gonna help me, I'll get someone else to open the portal "she stormed out, shaking her head to clear her mind. She bumped into something, sending her crashing to the floor, bumping her head against the floor.
"Blighted hell, can't I get a break?" she groans, cradling her head in her hands
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, the floor is quite comfy" she replied sarcastically, getting to her feet and dusting off the non-existent dust. "Can you get out of my way now?"she continued, looking up when the feet had not moved. The face connected to the feet stumped her, the eyes, the eyes did it - grey eyes that drew you in until you forgot your name, that paired with the sharp jaw and raven black hair that had that just-got-out-of-bed-but-i-look-awesome look were a panty soaking machine.
"This isn't a romantic comedy, snap out of it" she thought to herself, breaking out of the trance he had unknowingly put her in.
"Did you not hear me the first time?"She asked when he didn't move.
"I was waiting for you to finish checking me out. Wouldn't want to break your concentration princess" he replied with a smirk
"You must have little experience in people checking you out if you thought that was what I was doing." she was sporting an identical smirk now
"Well played princess" he said with a chuckle. "You're looking for your friend, perhaps I could offer some assistance."
"First - my name isn't princess and how did you know I was looking for my friends or wait, let me guess..... you can read minds?"
"No, but I can read faces", he stretches out his hand, collecting hers, bringing it to his lips "Naheem"
"Reiss" she provided, collecting her hand back "Considering you haven't tried to kill me yet, if you know where Myra is lead the way"
A couple of corridors, lefts and rights later, he stops in front of a door, then turns around to face her. "This is my stop, hopefully this won't be our last encounter. It has certainly been an honor", he backs into a hallway and disappears.
The door opened before her hand knuckles could connect with the wood and she was enveloped in a hug. "I thought you'd never talk to us again" Myra said, pulling her in and shutting the door behind them.
"I'm not here to talk. I can't open a portal home myself. You brought me here now you're gonna take me back" she said, trying to sound indifferent, keeping the quiver out of her voice because, even though these were the only people she knew as her family for almost all of her life, they were strangers to her.
"Reiss, let us explain. We were given orders not to tell you". Avalon tried but she wasn't having it
"You had my whole life to explain it, why start now?"she didn't wait for a reply. "Now will you take me back home or will I have to find someone else to do that?"
-in the forest-
Myra muttered the words under her breath and a door appeared in the middle of the field. "It'll take you back to the abandoned building, you can find your way back from there."
Neither of them knew what to say to each other anymore, so they left it at that. Reiss stepped through the door and appeared in the building. She looked through the door again before shutting it behind her. She opened it again just to remember what the other side looked like but it opened to nothing.
She felt eyes on her, all the way as she walked back to the main road and got into a taxi to take back home, or at least what she knew as 'home'. The car they took when going there was nowhere to be seen. The cab ride was uneventful but she still felt like she was being watched. She ran up to get some cash from her room to pay for the cabbie. He drove away, leaving her at the side of the street where she stood for a few minutes to gather her thoughts. She didnt know which was more unbelievable - the fact that there were other creatures living amongst us or the fact that she might be one of those other creatures and that she had a biological father. She wasn't given much time to swim in her thoughts because something appeared from the shadows, one of the things that had attacked them in Jupiter's mansion, only thing was that this time she was alone. And it knew that too.
It was a stare off between her and the 'man' in the shadows. He looked human but his eyes were anything but. His ears had an elfen look to them. They both knew she was done for it was only a matter of who made the first move. She was thinking of a million ways she could prolong her capture or worse - demise, but nothing came to mind. So she did the only thing someone who was stalked by an out of this world creature could do - run.
She took off in a sprint hoping those morning runs in the park would be good for something right now.
The hope that the elfen creature watching her would lose interest and go away was squashed when she heard footsteps thundering behind her. This is what my life has turned into - elfen men chasing me from my apartment in the middle of the night, she thought, as she fled from the strange man.
Then a thought came to mind, when she was held captive a few days ago, when her life wasn't the paranormal book/movie it was now, she summoned the half -naked man that saved her from her previous captors. It was a difficult task trying to remember the words she had said to bring that man to her aid and focusing on outrunning the man chasing her, but that wasn't a problem anymore because a force collided with her, sending her to the ground unable to move.
The man had caught up holding her to the ground with super-human strength. He attacked her neck, clawing at it, her neck, her face, but then he made the biggest mistake of his life, he clawed off her necklace and she let out a blood-curling scream as her true power coursed through her veins for the first time - the aura alone killing the man on top of her. Then everything went dark.
