In the bustling halls of Midtown High School, a young boy named Max navigated the crowded corridors with a mix of determination and vulnerability. At 17, Max had already faced more challenges than most people encounter in a lifetime. Orphaned at 14 when his parents died in a tragic accident, Max was left to fend for himself on the unforgiving streets of Neo-Eden City. To survive, Max did whatever it took. He scavenged through trash cans for scraps, worked part-time jobs for minimal pay, and honed his exceptional hacking skills to earn a little extra on the side. Despite the hardships, Max's genius-level intellect and resourcefulness had allowed him to thrive in the shadows. However, Max's life wasn't without its tormentors. George Carter, the spoiled and arrogant son of the wealthy and influential Carter family, took great pleasure in making Max's life miserable. The Carters owned five of the most successful companies in Neo-Eden, and George reveled in the power and privilege that came with his family's name. George would often mock Max's tattered clothes, his rough demeanor, and his lack of connections. He'd bully Max in the hallways, pushing him around and making snide comments about his background. Max, determined to keep his head down and avoid confrontation, would usually just take the abuse and move on. "Hey, Max!" Selina's voice rang out across the hallway, her tone dripping with condescension. Max turned to face her, his expression neutral. "Hey, Selina." Selina smirked, her eyes gleaming with amusement. "I'm hosting a birthday party at the Five Star King Hotel, and George is throwing it for me. He's very rich, you know. You should come – maybe he can find you a job, rather than picking up trash in the school compound." Her friends snickered and giggled, their eyes fixed on Max with disdain. As Selina spoke, she seemed to be enjoying the spectacle of Max's humiliation. Her words were laced with venom, and Max could feel the weight of her contempt. The other students around them began to stare, drawn in by the drama unfolding before them. Selina's friends whispered to each other, their eyes darting between Max and Selina. One of them whispered, "Look at him, he's so pathetic." Another chimed in, "Yeah, no wonder Selina dumped him for George – George is so much richer and more powerful." Selina turned to leave, but not before spitting out a parting shot: "8:00 pm, asshole!" she shouted, her voice carrying across the hallway. The crowd around them erupted into snickers and laughter, their eyes fixed on Max with a mix of amusement and disdain. As Selina walked away, Max's classmates began to murmur among themselves. "Max, are you really going?" Jessica asked, her brow furrowed with concern. James, Max's best friend, chimed in, "Yeah, dude, she's just trying to humiliate you. Don't give her the satisfaction." Max's response was unexpected. A sinister smirk spread across his face, and he said, "Oh, I'm going, all right. I've been invited, after all." His tone was laced with a hint of menace, and Jessica exchanged a worried glance with James. "Max, be careful," Jessica warned. "You know Selina and George are just trying to embarrass you in front of everyone." Max's smirk only grew wider.
