He came to burn her father’s empire to the ground. Instead, he became her only sanctuary. For twenty years, revenge was the only thing keeping Elijah alive.

After watching the Volkov mafia syndicate slaughter his family when he was just eight years old, he built himself into an assassin with one goal: total destruction. His plan to infiltrate the empire from the inside was flawless. Until a chaotic night in a crowded lounge changed everything.

He saves a beautiful, intoxicated stranger from a predator. He didn't expect her to cling to him and the reckless, breathtaking kiss they share to leave her asleep in his arms. And he definitely didn't expect her to be Isabella Volkov, the mafia princess, and his mortal enemy’s daughter!

Isabella is a prisoner in her own life, with her fate already sealed by her tyrant father. She is to marry Alessi, a ruthless monster who views her as nothing more than a prize. While her fiercely loyal protector, Malcolm, risks everything to stand against her father's cruelty, Isabella finds a dangerous, addictive escape in the arms of Elijah. He treats her like a queen, but he has a scary secret. As the wedding countdown ticks away, Elijah is caught between the vengeance he has bled for and the innocent woman carrying his unborn child he isn't aware of!

When the empire crumbles in a storm of blood and betrayal, a devastating misunderstanding tears them apart.

Stripped of everything, Isabella flees to a remote island with Malcolm to raise her secret baby alone. Years later, the past refuses to stay buried.

Can love survive what revenge destroyed, or is their second chance too far gone?

~The Night We Met~
The Sapphire Lounge was packed with people drifting in the late night music. The blue glow cast shadows of souls dancing everywhere. Elijah adjusted the cuffs of his tailored charcoal suit. His eyes tracked every movement in the room. He didn't belong in a high-end club like this one. He wasn't here for fun or drink like everyone else. He was hunting someone tonight. Elijah took a slow sip of his bourbon. His mind was a cold ledger of names, and at the very top, was Viktor Volkov. For two decades, Elijah had trained, bled, and built an underground crew for one single purpose: to tear the Viktor mafia empire down to the bedrock. Tonight was about gathering intelligence on Volkov's inner circle. A girl stumbled out of the VIP hallway, and something in Elijah's chest tightened. She was breathtakingly beautiful, wearing a silk emerald dress that clung to soft curves, but her steps were dangerously unsteady. Her dark hair cascaded over her shoulders in wild waves, and her flushed cheeks signaled she had drunk far too much. She gripped the edge of the mahogany bar, trying to steady herself. Before she could even call for the bartender, a heavy-set man in a flashy silver suit slid into the empty stool beside her. Elijah's eyes narrowed. He recognized the man. He was a sleazy, low-level drug runner named Marcus who operated on the fringes of the city. Marcus leaned in too close, whispering something in the girl's ear. She shook her head, her hand blindly pushing at his chest. "No... leave me alone," she muttered. "I need to go home." Marcus didn't back down. Instead, he gripped her arm and tried to pull her toward the exit. "Come on, sweetheart. You're in no state to be alone. Let's go." The girl tried to pull away, but her knees buckled. Marcus caught her, intent on dragging her toward the back exit against her will. The surrounding crowd looked away; in this city, people knew better than to interfere with the Volkovs' associates. But Elijah wasn't just anyone. And he had no patience for predators. Before Marcus could reach the heavy velvet curtains, Elijah stepped directly into his path. The sudden block forced Marcus to halt. A disgusted sneer formed on his face. "Get out of the way, pal," Marcus growled, tightening his grip on the girl. Elijah didn't blink. His expression remained unreadable. "Let her go." "You don't know who you're messing with," Marcus threatened, reaching toward the inside of his jacket. Elijah didn't give him the chance. In one movement, he disarmed Marcus and forced him back against the wall. Marcus let out a gasp as he was pinned, dropping the girl instantly. Elijah caught her by the waist before she hit the floor. He leaned in, his voice dropping to a deep whisper. "If I ever see you in this district again, you won't walk away. Do you understand me?" Terrified by the raw intensity in Elijah's eyes, Marcus scrambled out the back door into the alleyway the moment he was released. Silence fell over the hallway. Elijah looked down at the woman in his arms. She was completely unconscious now, her head rolling against his shoulder. A security guard stepped out from the shadows. Recognizing Elijah's authority, he lowered his head. "Take her to the lounge at the end of the hall, sir," the guard suggested, as he unlocked a heavy door. "She can rest there until she's sober. I didn't see anything." Elijah nodded. He carried her into the private room, where the thumping bass of the club died down to a faint murmur. He laid her down gently on the velvet sofa, adjusting a cushion beneath her head. He intended to leave and call for a car. But as he turned to go, he noticed the innocence on her face as she slept. He tried to talk himself out of it but it was hopeless. He knelt beside the sofa, his fingers hovering over her cheek. Her skin was surprisingly warm. Her lips were parted slightly, as if she'd wanted to say something before passing out. She looked so fragile like this. He could see the faint pulse beating at her throat. He should have left. He should have walked away and pretended he had never seen her face. He had a mission to execute tonight. But his body wouldn't move. He was still kneeling there when her eyes fluttered open. She blinked. She was disoriented and her gaze was unfocused. Then she saw him, and something flickered in her eyes. He saw something warm shift in her gaze. "You," she whispered, her voice hoarse. "You saved me." Elijah didn't answer. He couldn't find the words to say. She reached up, her fingers brushing against his jaw. The touch was tentative, but it sent a jolt through his entire body. He should have pulled away. He should have stood up and walked out the door. But he didn't. She pulled him closer. Her fingers curled into the fabric of his shirt, tugging him down toward her. Her eyes were dark and full of need. She was too drunk to hide it. "Kiss me," she breathed. Elijah's heart slammed against his ribs. "You're drunk." "I don't care, just kiss me." She pulled him down, and his lips met hers. The kiss was soft at first, as if she was testing him. But then her fingers tightened in his shirt, and she pulled him deeper, and the kiss turned into something expressive. Her lips parted beneath his, and he felt the heat of her tongue, the softness of her lips and the way she sighed against him, like she had been waiting for this moment her whole life. He should have stopped her and pulled away from the kiss. But she tasted like wine and honey, and her body was warm and pliant beneath him. He had been alone for so long that he had forgotten what it felt like to be touched. He kissed her back without thinking twice. His hand slid into her hair, cradling the back of her head, tilting her face up to meet his. She made a soft sound against his lips. The sound sent a shiver down his spine. She pressed closer, her body arching into his. He could feel her heart beating wildly against his chest. It was almost rhythmic. Her fingers traced down his neck, across his collarbone, leaving trails of pleasure on his skin. He could feel her softness and warmth, and the way she melted into him was like she trusted him completely. And that was the most terrifying part of all. She didn't know who he was, yet she was kissing him like he was her savior, her hero, the man who had rescued her from the darkness. But he was the darkness. He was a monster hiding in the shadows. And when she finally pulled back, her lips swollen and wet, she smiled at him like he was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. "Thank you," she whispered to him. Elijah said nothing. He couldn't. He was supposed to be on a mission, but he was busy falling for a stranger he'd just kissed back.
