"Winston, I saw you and Mr. Mitchell just now, so I brought Kelsey and his friend over to say hello." Hazel smiled as she spoke.
"Hazel, good to see you."
Winston smiled back, then turned to Leonard. "Mr. Mitchell, this is the niece I mentioned—she's NY Airline's first female captain. Maybe she'll be piloting your flight someday."
The people nearby chimed in with compliments. "You're truly impressive, Ms. Cook."
Hazel soaked up the praise.
This was the most direct recognition of her years of hard work, the honor she deserved for becoming a female captain.
"You're all too kind," Hazel said, feigning modesty. "I was just lucky to become the first female captain for NY Airlines."
"You certainly were lucky," a lazy voice cut in suddenly.
