“Jake! It's time to go!” I holler down the hallway for him since he didn’t meet us downstairs ten minutes ago like he was supposed to. Natalia and Samuel peek their heads out of Sam’s room at my yelling. I squint my eyes in their direction. Being her mother’s daughter, Natalia notices my scrutiny, and mutters something to her friend who swings the door open all the way thus allowing me to see that they are both fully clothed and unruffled. Good. She rolls her eyes dramatically in my direction.
Definitely her mother’s daughter.
Jake finally comes stumbling from his room, slamming the door loudly against the wall as he hastily buttons up his shirt.
“Goodbye my dear,” he murmurs to Laney who still stands in their room, hidden in the shadows.
