“Eligos.” I whisper, as if the name itself holds power.
“The elusive ‘E’,” Jake growls. The high from Eli’s blood dims. I look at him.
“You knew before he said his name,” he says. Not an accusation, but the question is in his tone.
“His scent—”
“Ash,” he interrupts. I nod.
“It was all over the room the day we got that first letter,” I explain. “I’ve never forgotten it.”
“We finally know who he is,” Nick says.
“Yeah sure, but what is he?” Hannah retorts. Several eyes turn to me, but I just shrug. I have never known the answer to that question. Khalandi clears her throat, directing attention to herself.
