“No tears, Bells. We’ll make it out of this,” Jake tells Bella, kissing her forehead. I pull her into myself, crashing my lips to hers, letting all of my love flow between us. Apollo fights me for control, conflicted about leaving our mate.
“I hate that you're all fighting my fight. I started this when I killed Zachariah.” Her voice is a broken whisper.
“Any fight against you is a fight against all of us,” Jake says from behind her. I grip her tighter against me, staring deeply into her eyes. Goddess, she is so strong. I would be nothing without her. I know she is terrified of losing us, of losing the kids, but she needs to focus; she needs to remain strong for all of us. I can't leave her knowing she isn’t ready.
